Star-Studded Pre-BAFTA Bash: Hollywood Glamour Descends on London
London’s Mayfair was abuzz with A-list talent last Friday night as Cartier hosted an exclusive pre-BAFTA party, drawing a constellation of stars to celebrate the upcoming awards ceremony. Among the glittering attendees was American actress Kate Hudson, who radiated elegance in a chic white dress. The 46-year-old star is currently enjoying a significant moment in her career, having received a nomination for Best Leading Actress for her compelling portrayal of Claire Sardina in the musical drama Song Sung Blue.
Hudson was visibly thrilled, unable to contain her joy as she mingled with a host of esteemed guests. The exclusive gathering included acclaimed actors such as Paul Mescal, Russell Tovey, Mark Strong, and the iconic Tilda Swinton.

The British actress Tilda Swinton, 65, also made a striking appearance, presenting a timeless look in a sophisticated black ensemble complemented by a stylish cream jacket. The event also provided a platform for emerging talent, with rising stars Mia McKenna-Bruce, 28, and Emilia, the 23-year-old actress daughter of Aled Jones, gracing the occasion. Guests were treated to a special touch, departing the festivities with bespoke gifts from Cartier, a fitting memento ahead of the prestigious BAFTA Film Awards.

A BAFTA Nomination and a “Love Letter” to England
Kate Hudson recently shared the heartwarming moment she discovered her BAFTA nomination. The actress, who starred opposite Hugh Jackman in Song Sung Blue, portraying the real-life married couple Mike and Claire Sardina who formed a Neil Diamond cover band in 1990s Milwaukee, took to Instagram to express her profound gratitude.
The clip captured a spontaneous and emotional reaction. Sitting in a restaurant, Hudson let out a squeal of shock and repeatedly exclaimed “Oh my God!” as she leapt from her seat and rushed out to take the call delivering the news.
In her accompanying caption, Hudson conveyed her deep appreciation to BAFTA, describing the nomination as feeling “like a love letter.” She elaborated on this sentiment, explaining that England has always held a special place in her heart and that of her family, viewing it as a “real home.”
“BAFTA! Thank you!” she wrote. “I am so honored to be nominated ❤️ England has always been a real home for me and my family so this nomination feels like a love letter back to a place that’s given us so much. See you soon London Town.”

Alongside her heartfelt message, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star shared a collection of cherished throwback photographs featuring her children exploring the sights of London, underscoring her personal connection to the city.
Kate Hudson is a devoted mother to three children: Ryder, 21, from her previous marriage to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson; Bingham, 14, with ex-fiancé and Muse singer Matt Bellamy; and Rani, seven, with her current fiancé Danny Fujikawa.

A Familiar Honour and a Tough Competition
This latest BAFTA nod marks a significant milestone for Hudson, as it is her second nomination from the British Academy. Her first nomination came a quarter of a century ago, for her critically acclaimed performance as Penny Lane in the iconic film Almost Famous.
This year, Hudson faces formidable competition in the Best Leading Actress category. She is up against a strong field, including frontrunner Jessie Buckley, who is nominated for her role as William Shakespeare’s wife in Chloe Zhao’s biopic Hamnet. The other nominees vying for the prestigious award are Rose Byrne for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Chase Infiniti for One Battle After Another, Emma Stone for Bugonia, and Renate Reinsve for Sentimental Value.
The winners of the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards will be announced on Sunday, February 22nd, during a star-studded ceremony hosted by Alan Cumming. The anticipation is palpable as the film industry awaits the reveal of this year’s celebrated recipients.
