Mercedes’ Junior Program Turns 10: Nine Drivers for 2026

Mercedes Fuels Future of Motorsport with Expanded Junior Programme

Mercedes has officially announced the expansion of its prestigious Junior Programme, welcoming two promising karting talents, Niccolò Perico and Devin Titz, to its burgeoning roster. This initiative, described by the Mercedes Formula 1 team as a decade-long pipeline, meticulously scouts and cultivates talent from the grassroots of karting all the way up to the competitive Formula Regional European Championship. The announcement, shared via Instagram, quickly garnered significant attention, raking in over 17,000 likes and comments, with notable engagement from figures like Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Devin Titz, a German driver who secured fourth place in the 2024 German Kart Championship, expressed his elation. “It is truly a dream come true to represent the Mercedes-AMG F1 Junior Programme as a German driver,” he stated in a press release. “Mercedes stands for excellence and success, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of this team. I would like to thank Motorsport Team Germany for nominating me for the joint talent promotion project with Mercedes.”

Niccolò Perico, the accomplished winner of the ROK Cup Superfinal in 2025, echoed this sentiment. “It is a great honour for me to join the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team Junior Programme,” he commented. “I am confident this will be a decisive step in my career, and I am truly looking forward to making the most of this opportunity.”

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team is now placing its faith in a diverse group of nine emerging stars:

  • Rashid Al Dhaheri
  • Ethan Jeff-Hall
  • Andy Consani
  • Luna Fluxá
  • Kenzo Cragie
  • James Anagnostiadis
  • Many Nuvolini
  • Devin Titz
  • Niccolò Perico

A Decade of Developing Champions

This year marks a significant milestone for the Junior Programme, as 2026 will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Gwen Lagrue, the team’s driver development advisor, highlighted the programme’s enduring commitment. “2026 marks the 10th anniversary of our Junior Programme, a milestone that reflects a decade of identifying, developing and promoting outstanding talent,” Lagrue said.

The programme’s success is evident in the calibre of drivers it has nurtured. “Over the years, the programme has supported and nurtured drivers such as George Russell, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Frederik Vesti and Doriane Pin, guiding them on their path to the highest level of our sport,” Lagrue added. The fact that the entire 2026 Formula 1 line-up comprises drivers who have graduated from their own programme is a profound source of pride for the entire Mercedes organisation.

Lagrue emphasised how this achievement validates their development philosophy and serves as a powerful inspiration for the next generation of drivers within their ranks. “It demonstrates the strength of our philosophy and sets a clear example for the next generation within our ranks. I am certain that our young drivers will draw inspiration and motivation from this pathway.”

The responsibility and honour of representing the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, along with the thousands of individuals behind it, are significant for these young drivers as they compete across various junior categories. Lagrue stressed that for both the drivers and the development team, “excellence is the standard.” The continuous refinement of support and development methods is driven by an unwavering focus on achieving performance, victories, and ultimately, championships. The hope is that 2026 will be a year of significant success, allowing for a triumphant celebration of the programme’s decade-long journey.

A Global Talent Pool: The Class of 2026

The current cohort showcases a remarkable breadth of ages and nationalities, reflecting Mercedes’ commitment to unearthing global motorsport talent.

  • Rashid Al Dhaheri: The oldest member at 17, this Emirati driver continues his journey in Formula Regional.
  • Ethan Jeff-Hall: The British Formula 4 driver will remain in British F4, having joined the programme in 2025 alongside Al Dhaheri.
  • Andy Consani: The 16-year-old French driver also joined in 2025 and has already achieved significant success, including becoming the UAE4 vice-champion this year.

  • Luna Fluxá: At 15 years old, Fluxá is graduating from karting into Spanish F4, having joined the programme in 2022.
  • Kenzo Cragie: Also 15, Cragie will be competing in both the Italian F4 and Euro4 championships.
  • James Anagnostiadis: In his second year with the team, Anagnostiadis will continue his racing endeavours in OK and KZ2 karting.

At the younger end of the spectrum, the programme welcomes 12-year-old French karer Many Nuvolini. He is joined by two exceptionally young talents, both aged 11: German Mini karer Devin Titz and Italian OK NG racer Niccolò Perico.

The Impact of the Junior Programme: A Driver’s Perspective

The success and impact of the Mercedes Junior Programme are best illustrated by the experiences of drivers who have come through its ranks. George Russell, a prominent contender for the 2026 F1 championship, attributes much of his career progression to the initiative.

“The team’s Junior Programme has massively helped me throughout my journey both to, and in F1,” Russell stated. “I genuinely wouldn’t be here today without the support from the very top, from Toto, from Gwen, and from so many people in the team who’ve backed me.”

He highlighted the unique ethos of the Mercedes programme: “What’s special about Mercedes is that they fuel your potential. They encourage you to go out there, give everything, and trust that you have what it takes. Being part of the Junior Programme meant so much to me. Wearing the star for the first time was a really special moment, and it’s something you wear with pride.”
