The year 2025 has already seen several significant ship debuts, including Star of the Seas, MSC World America, Celebrity Excel, Star Princess, and Disney Destiny. The pipeline for new cruise ships is overflowing, with major players like Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises preparing to unveil new megaships and elegant river vessels. Viking, Tui, and Celebrity Cruises are also set to expand their river cruise offerings.
Here’s a detailed look at some of the most anticipated new cruise ships scheduled for launch in 2026 and beyond:
1. Norwegian Luna

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is set to welcome its fourth Prima-class vessel, Norwegian Luna, in April 2026. Following in the wake of its sister ship, Aqua, which launched in April 2025, Norwegian Luna will feature many of the same innovative amenities. Guests can anticipate the thrilling hybrid waterslide rollercoaster, the Slidecoaster, and captivating entertainment such as the “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John” show.
Measuring 1,056 feet in length and with a gross tonnage of 156,300, Norwegian Luna will become the 21st ship in the NCL fleet, capable of accommodating 3,550 passengers. Its inaugural voyages are slated for the Caribbean, offering passengers a taste of paradise.
2. Legend of the Seas

Royal Caribbean is expanding its groundbreaking Icon class with Legend of the Seas, its third vessel in this category. Uniquely, Legend of the Seas will be the first Icon class ship to debut in Europe. Alongside its siblings, Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, it will stand as one of the world’s largest cruise ships, boasting the most extensive waterpark and slides at sea. Further enhancing the onboard experience are a high ropes course and an impressive selection of 40 bars and restaurants, designed to cater to its 5,610 passengers.
Entertainment will be a key highlight, featuring exclusive performances of the musical “Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and an immersive “Royal Railway” dining experience. Legend of the Seas will commence its service in July, offering seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises departing from Barcelona, Spain, and Rome, Italy.
3. Disney Adventure

Set to launch in March 2026, Disney Adventure marks the eighth addition to the beloved Disney fleet. This magnificent vessel will be homeported in Singapore, offering three, four, and five-night itineraries around Asia. Adding a touch of Hollywood glamour, the iconic Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. will serve as its godparent.
Weighing in at 208,000 tonnes and capable of hosting over 6,000 guests, Disney Adventure will be the largest Disney cruise ship to date. Among its unique attractions are a Disney castle replica and the Marvel-themed Ironcycle Test Run, which will be the first rollercoaster ever featured on a Disney cruise ship. With a length of 820 feet, it will also be one of the longest ships at sea.
4. Seven Seas Prestige

Regent Seven Seas is preparing to introduce its first entirely new cruise ship class in a decade with the arrival of Seven Seas Prestige in December 2026. This 77,000-tonne vessel will accommodate 822 guests and is the first of three planned Prestige-class ships, expanding the fleet to seven.
A significant differentiator will be its exceptionally high crew-to-guest ratio, 40 per cent larger than the rest of the fleet, ensuring unparalleled service. The ship will offer a host of luxurious amenities, including dedicated butler service, sophisticated lounges, and a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant named Azure, serving mezze-style dishes.
Accommodation options are extensive, with 12 suite categories, including the opulent 9,000-square-foot Skyview Regent Suite. Priced at £20,000 per night, this suite can host up to six guests and comes with its own dedicated butler, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a sprawling wraparound balcony exceeding 3,500 square feet.
Seven Seas Prestige will embark on its maiden voyage from Barcelona to Miami on December 13, 2026. Its initial itineraries are scheduled through May 2027, covering the Caribbean and Europe, with two transatlantic crossings. Fares for a deluxe veranda suite start at £6,239 per person.
5. Explora III

The latest addition to the Explora Journeys fleet, a luxury brand under MSC Cruises, is scheduled to set sail this summer. Explora III will accommodate approximately 900 guests and will mirror the luxurious features of its sister ships. These include five heated swimming pools, six distinct restaurants, and 12 bars and lounges, all supported by an impressive guest-to-staff ratio of 1.25:1.
The maiden seven-night voyage for Explora III is planned for August 3, 2026, departing from Barcelona and concluding in Lisbon. Prices for this inaugural journey begin at £4,770 per person.
6. MSC World Asia

MSC Cruises’ World class series will see a new flagship with the launch of MSC World Asia in December 2026. This vessel will incorporate design elements inspired by Asian culture, art, and landscapes, offering a unique immersive experience.
Key features of the 6,782-capacity ship include a striking giant dragon suspended in the World Promenade and a thrilling 12-deck high dry slide, drawing inspiration from Singapore’s iconic Gardens by the Bay. The maiden voyage will be a seven-night round-trip from Barcelona, departing on December 4, 2026, with fares starting from £1,186 per person.
7. Viking Mira

Viking Cruises continues to expand its ocean fleet with the launch of Viking Mira in June 2026. Classified as a small ship, Viking Mira boasts a gross tonnage of 54,300 and features 499 staterooms, providing accommodation for 998 guests.
Reflecting the cruise line’s signature Scandinavian design aesthetic, passengers can enjoy the elegant bars and restaurants while sailing through the Mediterranean and Northern Europe during its inaugural season.
8. Star Explorer

Luxury cruise line Windstar is set to unveil its latest vessel, Star Explorer, in December 2026. This intimate ship will offer 112 suites for a maximum of 224 guests, including two exclusive Horizon Owner’s Suites, each featuring wraparound balconies.
Onboard facilities will include the sophisticated Yacht Club Cafe and a dedicated Marina watersports platform, providing guests with ample opportunities for recreation and relaxation. The new ship is scheduled to operate year-round in Europe, commencing its service from Barcelona in December 2026. A special christening ceremony is planned for May 2027 at Tower Bridge in London.
9. TUI Elara

TUI River Cruises is set to enhance its European waterway offerings with the introduction of TUI Elara in the summer of 2027. This adult-only vessel will accommodate 138 passengers and will feature the brand’s signature Verdastro restaurant as its main à la carte dining venue, alongside The Observatory, serving as the primary lounge, bar, and entertainment hub.
TUI Elara will operate a range of five, seven, and 14-night sailings from various European hubs, including Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Basel. The ship will explore five new itineraries along the Rhine, Moselle, and Dutch and Belgian waterways, expanding TUI’s total itinerary options to 15. Notably, it will be the first ship in the fleet to navigate to Brussels, Belgium. Prices for sailings start from £1,349 per person.
10. Scenic Group

The luxury brand Scenic Group has ambitious plans for expansion, with three new luxury river ships slated for launch in 2027 and early 2028, catering to both European and Asian waterways.
The new fleet includes the 112-guest Emerald Nova, which will debut on the Douro River in June 2027. Following this, Scenic Aria will be unveiled in the same region in September 2027, with a capacity of 96 passengers. Scenic Spirit II is scheduled for an early 2028 launch on the Mekong River, a 68-passenger ship that will cruise through Vietnam and Cambodia. Its itinerary will include stops at significant locations such as Phnom Penh, Ankor Ban, and Ho Chi Minh City, with excursion options that delve into the region’s history, including visits to the Killing Fields and local wet markets.
Adding to the fleet, Emerald Astra will launch in May 2026 on the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers, while Emerald Lumi is set to sail the Seine in 2027.
11. Celebrity River Cruises
Celebrity Cruises is making a significant entry into the river cruise market with its debut scheduled for 2027. The Royal Caribbean Group brand aims to translate its renowned luxury ocean cruise experience to the world’s premier rivers.
The company is building a fleet of 10 ships, with the first two, Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker, slated to navigate the Rhine and Danube rivers next year. Demand for 2027 sailings has already resulted in sold-out cabins, with bookings now open for 2028.
