Maya Hawke’s First Post-Wedding Sighting with Husband, Joined by Stranger Things Co-Stars

Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson Make First Public Appearance as a Married Couple

Maya Hawke and her new husband, Christian Lee Hutson, have stepped into the spotlight as a married couple for the first time. The pair, who exchanged vows earlier this year on Valentine’s Day, made their public debut at the 39th annual Tibet House US Benefit Concert held at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Hawke, 27, and Hutson, 35, graced the stage together to perform as a duo at the benefit concert. This performance marked their return to the event, having previously performed together at its 2024 edition. The couple also had the opportunity to mingle with fellow performers, including a photo opportunity with the legendary Elvis Costello.

For the occasion, Hawke opted for a stylish yet understated look, sporting a burgundy velvet top with its long sleeves casually rolled up. She paired this with classic black slacks and black leather dress shoes. Hutson complemented her ensemble with a black turtleneck sweater and matching black trousers, creating a cohesive, low-key aesthetic.

Before their performance, the couple was captured in what appeared to be a green room, posing for photographs. Hawke was seen with an acoustic guitar resting on her lap as they sat together on a sofa, a testament to their shared musical passion. Both artists brought their own acoustic guitars for their performance on stage.

This public appearance comes just a day after Hawke announced the upcoming release of her new album, Maitreya Corso, scheduled for May 1st. The first single from the album, “Devil You Know,” was released simultaneously with the announcement. In addition to the album, Hawke has scheduled several tour dates in April and early May, with stops planned in major cities across the United States, including New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

A Star-Studded Wedding

Hawke’s Valentine’s Day wedding to Hutson was a star-studded affair, attended by a constellation of celebrities and close family members. Notably, her parents, acclaimed actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, were present to celebrate the joyous occasion.

The actress was also surrounded by support from her Stranger Things co-stars in the audience. Among those in attendance were Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo, highlighting the strong bonds formed on the popular Netflix series.

Hawke and Hutson were first romantically linked in 2023. Hawke has spoken glowingly of Hutson, describing him as a “poet musical genius,” particularly after he produced her third studio album, Chaos Angel. Prior to her relationship with Hutson, Hawke had dated singer Spencer Barnett and actor Tom Sturridge.

The Wedding Day Details

For her walk down the aisle, Hawke donned a sleeveless white gown featuring a full skirt and a dramatic train. To brave the chilly weather, she layered the look with a white cover-up adorned with feathery embellishments. Her hair was elegantly swept up into a chic updo, complemented by a short, netted veil positioned at the back of her head.

A poignant moment captured during the ceremony showed her father, Ethan Hawke, assisting his daughter by briefly holding her bouquet of white flowers as she walked. The Before Sunrise actor was impeccably dressed in a classic black suit with a black shirt underneath.

Uma Thurman also cut a glamorous figure in a blue dress with printed details, showing her unwavering support for her daughter. Thurman shares Maya and her son Levon with Ethan Hawke, from their marriage that concluded in 2005.

The groom, Christian Lee Hutson, looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo, paired with a white dress shirt and a black bowtie. Hawke’s bridesmaids were a vision in white lace dresses, each accented with flower crowns, adding a whimsical touch to the bridal party.

Some of Hawke’s Stranger Things castmates, including Natalia Dyer and Finn Wolfhard, were also seen making their way to the ceremony, underscoring their close relationships with the bride. However, one notable absence from the nuptials was co-star David Harbour. The actor was reportedly seen with a mystery woman in New York City over Valentine’s Day weekend, according to reports.

A Musical Partnership

Hawke and Hutson’s connection extends beyond their romantic relationship; they share a deep musical synergy. They first crossed paths years before their romance began and have since collaborated on several musical projects. Hutson contributed to Hawke’s second studio album, Moss, and her 2024 LP, Chaos Angel. Hawke also lent her vocals to a track on Hutson’s 2024 album, Paradise Pop. 10.

In support of Hutson’s music, Hawke accompanied him on his tour last year. She has consistently shown her support for his work, including a shout-out on her Instagram page during the release of his LP. She shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of their studio sessions and moments with other collaborators.

Hutson has also expressed his admiration for Hawke’s musical talents. He celebrated the release of her album Chaos Angel on Instagram, calling Hawke an “unstoppable force.” He wrote, “This record means so much to me and working on it radically changed my life for the better in too many ways to mention here… Thank you to Maya, an unstoppable force and truly one of the only people I’ve ever met, with the courage to pull the deepest and darkest from within herself out into the light, to hold it there, really examine it, and choose to love it, chaos and all.” He concluded by stating that working on the album “changed my life” and expressed hope that it could do the same for others.

From Friendship to Romance

The couple’s relationship first began to attract attention in 2023 when they were photographed sharing a kiss in New York City. Their red carpet debut followed two years later, in April 2025, at the opening night of the Broadway production John Proctor Is The Villain, where they were seen holding hands and smiling.

Rumours of an engagement began to swirl later that same month when Hawke was spotted wearing a ring on her left hand in New York. In an interview on the Zach Sang Show in 2024, Hawke opened up about her relationship with Hutson, revealing that they had been close friends before their romance blossomed. She described their relationship as “the best,” highlighting his understanding and acceptance of her as a person, not just a projection of an ideal partner.

Hutson’s support for Hawke’s career in both acting and music is also evident. Hawke previously told Variety that Hutson had been incredibly encouraging of her as a musician, assisting her in transitioning from a poet in a band to a more established musician. Their shared passion for creativity has been a cornerstone of their relationship, with Hutson occasionally featuring on Hawke’s Instagram page. She has shared posts celebrating his music releases and even a photo of them attending a Prada runway show together in March of the previous year.

Shortly before their Valentine’s Day wedding, Hawke was also busy with her acting career, starring in the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Hawke became a regular cast member in the third season of the hit series, which concluded on New Year’s Eve.
