Mizzou Star Jevon Porter Seeks Medical Waiver, Enters Transfer Portal

Missouri forward Jevon Porter has made the decision to enter the transfer portal, according to a report from Sam Kayser of League Ready. This move comes as he seeks to play for a new team in the upcoming season. To do so, Porter will need to be granted an additional year of eligibility through a medical redshirt, which he has already applied for, as reported by the same source.

However, it’s important to note that Porter will not automatically qualify for a medical redshirt. The NCAA requires players to have participated in less than 30% of their team’s games to be eligible for this status. In Porter’s case, he played in 36.3% (12 out of 33) of Missouri’s games during the 2025-26 season, which disqualifies him from automatic eligibility.

Porter missed a significant portion of the season due to a leg injury sustained during practice in the week leading up to Missouri’s game against Illinois. As a result, he was unable to participate in any conference play and was also absent during the Tigers’ loss to Illinois.

Porter is the second player from Missouri to enter the transfer portal with the intention of gaining an additional year of eligibility. He joins forward Jacob Crews in making this move.

Prior to joining Missouri for his senior season, Porter spent his junior year at Loyola Marymount and his first two years of college basketball at Pepperdine. His decision to transfer to Missouri came after a successful stint at Loyola Marymount, where he had his most productive season, averaging 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

Porter’s time at Missouri included 12 appearances, starting in 10 of them. During that time, he averaged 6.2 points, four rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. His older brothers, Michael Porter Jr. and Jontay Porter, also played for Missouri, adding a family legacy to his college career.

Missouri has experienced a highly active period in the transfer portal this offseason. Porter is the fifth player from the program to enter the portal, joining guard Anthony Robinson II, guard T.O. Barrett, guard Sebastian Mack, and forward Jacob Crews. Despite these departures, the Tigers have made three additions to their roster so far, including forwards Jamier Jones, Jaylen Carey, and Bryson Tiller.
