Arjun Tendulkar’s Move to Mumbai T20 League Generates Excitement
Arjun Tendulkar has been making headlines in the cricketing world, not because of his performance on the field but due to his recent high-profile move to the Mumbai T20 League. Despite limited action in the IPL 2026 so far, his acquisition by ARCS Andheri has sparked a lot of interest.
The all-rounder was bought for a hefty sum during an intense bidding war at the auction on 2nd May. His base price was set at 2 lakh, but he ended up being sold for 10 lakh, marking a 400% increase. This deal is particularly significant as it marks Tendulkar’s debut in the Mumbai T20 League, something he hasn’t experienced yet in the IPL 2026 with Lucknow Super Giants.
A Big Opportunity in the Mumbai League
At ARCS Andheri, Tendulkar will be playing alongside Shivam Dube, who has been retained by the franchise for 20 lakh. The team also signed Musheer Khan for 11 lakh. Tendulkar’s deal of 10 lakh in the Mumbai T20 League is one-third of his total earnings, as his IPL salary amounts to 30 lakh.
Tendulkar moved to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the IPL 2026 in a trade deal from Mumbai Indians, though the exact amount of the trade remains undisclosed. So far this season, he hasn’t featured in the playing eleven, and his move to the Mumbai T20 League could provide him with much-needed game time.
Special Approval and Future Prospects
Tendulkar received special permission to play in the Mumbai T20 League, even though he is no longer associated with the Mumbai Cricket Association. He has been representing Goa in domestic cricket since the 2022-23 season after relocating from Mumbai due to a lack of opportunities in his hometown.
According to BCCI guidelines, a player can only participate in one league per year in addition to the IPL. Tendulkar was granted permission because he hails from Mumbai and hasn’t represented any other state league recently. A similar provision was made for Siddhant Addhatrao, who plays for Puducherry.
Upcoming Schedule and Benefits
The Mumbai T20 League is expected to take place in the first week of June, just after the conclusion of the IPL 2026 and before the monsoons hit Mumbai. For Tendulkar, this tournament presents a valuable opportunity to gain match practice and prepare for future challenges.
This move not only highlights Tendulkar’s potential but also underscores the growing importance of the Mumbai T20 League in providing players with additional exposure and experience. With his unique background and the support from the franchise, Tendulkar is poised to make a strong impact in the upcoming season.
