Mumbai Falcons Racing has announced Shreyas Iyer as their brand ambassador for the F1 Sim Racing project set to launch in India. This partnership marks a significant step for the racing team as they prepare for the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026. The competition will begin with a nationwide talent search through virtual racing, serving as its initial phase of operation.
The tournament, supported by Formula 1, will use F1 25 to recreate real race circuits and competitive formats. It offers Indian gamers a structured path to professional sim racing, supporting PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox platforms. Iyer’s involvement adds star power to the event, as he will actively promote the team during the Sim Racing tournament.
A Connection to Formula 1
Iyer’s connection to Formula 1 goes beyond just being a fan. In 2023, he visited the Yas Marina Circuit to watch the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. During this visit, he met Max Verstappen, the four-time F1 world champion. Iyer gifted Verstappen an Indian cricket jersey and the two posed for photos together. This encounter highlights Iyer’s growing presence in the motorsports community.
Performance on the Cricket Field
In addition to his new role in sim racing, Iyer continues to excel in the IPL 2026. He has scored a total of 309 runs in seven innings, maintaining an average of 61.80 and a strike rate of 174.57. His performance includes four fifties, showcasing his consistency and ability to perform under pressure.
Iyer also delivered a standout performance in a match against the Delhi Capitals, where he scored 71 runs from 36 balls without being dismissed. This effort was crucial in helping Punjab Kings achieve a record-breaking T20 run chase, successfully chasing down 265 runs.
Ambitions for the Season
With his peak performance in IPL 2026, Iyer aims to secure the first title for Punjab Kings this season. Last year, the team narrowly lost their final match against RCB, but this year, they have a strong opportunity to achieve historical success.
