Britney Spears admits guilt to DUI two months after shocking arrest

Britney Spears has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, but she will not face any jail time, according to recent reports. The singer admitted to what California refers to as a “wet reckless” charge. Her lawyer attended the court arraignment on May 4, several days after she was officially charged following her arrest in March.

The judge sentenced Spears to 12 months of probation and one day of jail, which was credited as time served. This decision highlights the legal consequences of her actions, even though she did not exceed California’s legal blood alcohol limit of 0.08 percent.

Why Was Britney Spears Arrested?

According to OK! magazine, the singer was pulled over in Ventura County, California, when her car was seen swerving. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, and authorities also found unidentified pills in her vehicle. While her BAC was 0.06 percent, which is below the legal limit, she was still arrested because she showed signs of impairment.

This incident sparked widespread concern about her well-being and prompted discussions about her personal struggles.

Britney Spears’ Manager Speaks Out

Britney’s manager, Cade Hudson, released a statement following the incident, calling it “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.” He added, “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”

He emphasized that she is committed to getting the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Additionally, he mentioned that her and ex-husband Kevin Federline’s sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James Federline, would be spending time with her throughout her recovery.

“Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being,” Cade said.

Britney Spears Went to Rehab

The mom-of-two’s sons did end up staying by her side in the aftermath, with Britney sharing footage of their time together on social media. Amid rumors of struggling with substance abuse, the “Womanizer” singer entered rehab in April, with a source telling TMZ on April 12 that she realized she “hit rock bottom.”

A source told OK! that the drama has “really shaken her.” They added, “She is acutely aware of how this looks, particularly in the eyes of her sons, and she has been making a concerted effort to reach out to them, repeatedly apologizing and trying to reassure them that she is committed to doing better.”

“She has made it clear she is willing to take whatever steps are necessary to rebuild their trust, because setting a positive example for them matters enormously to her,” the insider continued. “At the same time, those close to her recognize that while her love for Sean and Jayden is unwavering, it has not always translated into consistent decision-making, which is part of the challenge she is now facing.”

The Singer Left Rehab

Britney was spotted leaving rehab on April 29, with a source telling Page Six, “She’s doing really well.” They added, “She’s healthy and happy and feeling very positive and excited to start afresh.”

“Rehab was a great opportunity for her to ground herself,” they insisted.

Moving Forward

Britney’s journey through this challenging period has drawn attention from fans and media alike. As she continues to focus on her recovery and personal growth, the support from her family and team remains crucial.

Her public statements and actions have shown a commitment to change, and many hope this marks the beginning of a more stable and positive chapter in her life.
