Jemimah Rodrigues Aims for T20 World Cup Glory After Historic ICC Win

Jemimah Rodrigues Expresses Determination for T20 World Cup Success

Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has expressed her desire to lead the Women in Blue to victory in the upcoming T20 World Cup. This follows the team’s recent triumph in the 50-over global tournament, which marked a significant milestone in women’s cricket. Speaking at the IISM Degree Distribution Ceremony 2026, Jemimah emphasized the team’s motivation to achieve even greater success.

“Since we have already won one World Cup, we want to win two,” she said, highlighting the team’s ambition. Jemimah also praised the efforts of her coach, Amol Muzumdar, who has been instrumental in preparing the squad for the challenges ahead.

Comprehensive Preparation for the Tournament

Jemimah revealed that the team’s preparations for the ICC tournament began long before the official squad announcement. “Our coach, Amol Muzumdar, spoke about the need to get ready for the next World Cup after we lifted our first trophy at home. He told us to get back to training for the next World Cup. So we have been preparing from day one,” she explained.

This proactive approach has ensured that the team is well-equipped to face the competition. The focus on continuous training and development has been crucial in building a strong foundation for the upcoming matches.

Recognizing Teammate Nandani’s Contributions

Jemimah also highlighted the importance of consistency within the team, particularly praising her teammate Nandani. “She has been brilliant, and it is not about one game. She has shown consistency across matches. She will be able to contribute on the big stage,” Jemimah added.

Nandani’s performance has been a key factor in the team’s success, and her ability to perform under pressure is seen as a valuable asset for the T20 World Cup.

Strong Lineup with Key Players

The presence of established stars such as Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah, along with promising talents like Nandani, indicates that India is focused on achieving success in the upcoming tournament. However, the team faces a challenge with the absence of Amanjot Kaur, who has been ruled out due to injury.

Impact of Amanjot Kaur’s Injury

Amol Muzumdar acknowledged the significance of Amanjot Kaur’s absence. “She is injured, and you can’t replace her. She has done well for us,” he said. Muzumdar added, “We will miss her presence, but injuries are part and parcel of the game. She will be out of action for a few months. I hope she comes back stronger. She is difficult to replace.”

Despite this setback, the team remains determined to overcome the challenges and secure a strong position in the tournament.
