A New Chapter for Aiva Anagnostiadis
Teenager Aiva Anagnostiadis, a rising star in Australian motorsport, is determined to put a challenging end to 2025 behind her as she embarks on a new adventure in Italy. The 18-year-old has been named as the latest driver for the Promodrive team in the inaugural season of the GT4 Italy Series.
Anagnostiadis will be driving a BMW GT4-spec car and will compete at the Misano World Circuit track in Emilia-Romagna this weekend for the first round of the five-round championship. This marks a significant shift in her career as she transitions from open-wheel cars to the GT4 category.
The Victorian was one of two Australians, along with Joanne Ciconte, who competed in the F1 Academy championship last year. Anagnostiadis made history by becoming the first Australian to score points in that series with an eighth-place finish in the season opener. However, her season was cut short due to an injury, which meant she missed the final two weekends in Singapore and Las Vegas.
Now, she is focusing on the GT4-spec category, a challenge she is eager to take on. “I’m really looking forward to the 2026 season,” she said. “After my first year in F1 Academy, moving to a BMW GT4 with a new team and new circuits is an exciting challenge. It’s a new experience and I’m ready to learn and push as hard as possible.”
Each weekend of the GT4 Italy Series will feature two races, each lasting 50 minutes plus one lap. Each car will have two co-drivers, who must both participate during the race. Anagnostiadis will be partnered with Italian driver Andrea Palazzo.
The first round of the season will be held this weekend at the Misano World Circuit. Here are the details for the upcoming rounds:
- Round 1: Misano World Circuit, Misano Adriatico, Emilia-Romagna: May 9-10
- Round 2: Vallelunga Circuit, Campagnano di Roma, Rome: July 3-5
- Round 3: Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, Mugello, Tuscany: July 24-26
- Round 4: Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Imola, Emilia-Romagna: September 4-6
- Round 5: Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Monza, Lombardy: October 10-11
This season presents Anagnostiadis with a unique opportunity to showcase her skills in a different racing format. With the support of the Promodrive team and her co-driver, she is well-positioned to make a strong impact in the GT4 Italy Series. Her journey from the F1 Academy to the GT4 category highlights her determination and adaptability as a young motorsport talent.
As the first round approaches, fans and supporters are eagerly anticipating what Anagnostiadis will achieve in the upcoming season. Her performance in Italy could mark a turning point in her career, setting the stage for future successes in the world of motorsport.
