Janet Jackson Makes Rare Appearance at Grammy Hall of Fame Gala
Janet Jackson made a rare public appearance at the 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Gala, hosted by the Recording Academy and the Grammy Museum. This marked the first time the 59-year-old singer, known for her iconic music career, has been seen in seven months. It was also her first public sighting since she declined to be portrayed in the new biopic about her late brother, Michael Jackson.
Her appearance at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills left fans in awe. Wearing a charcoal gray suit and white shirt, she looked youthful and radiant on the red carpet. With her milestone 60th birthday just days away on May 16, many were amazed by her ageless look. One fan wrote on X: “Not sure how Janet does it, but she looks half her age.” Another commented: “She must be full of Botox or had a visit to her plastic surgeon because she does not have one wrinkle on her face.”
Another observer noted how happy she appeared: “There is a sparkle in her eye like she is living her best life.”

The New Michael Jackson Biopic and Janet’s Role
The biopic, directed by Antoine Fuqua, is titled Michael and features several members of the Jackson family. However, Janet was not included in the film. La Toya Jackson confirmed at the movie’s premiere that Janet was asked to participate but “kindly declined.”
In the film, Michael is portrayed by Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late singer. Joe Jackson is played by Colman Domingo, while Nia Long takes on the role of Katherine Jackson. La Toya is portrayed by Jessica Sula, and Juliano Valdi plays younger Michael.
Fuqua emphasized the importance of involving the Jackson family in the project, even if Janet did not agree to be represented. “You’re telling somebody’s life, you want to make sure that they’re happy,” he said.
The film also has financial backing from Michael’s estate, with his son, Prince Jackson, serving as an executive producer. His other children, Bigi and Paris, are not involved in the project.

Janet’s Recent Public Appearances
Janet was last seen in October at the Dancers Against Cancer’s 2025 Gala Of The Stars. At that event, she looked young again, wearing her hair with highlights around her face. She was also slender in a silky black mini dress with high heels.
Her previous public appearance was in October 2016 when she shocked the world by announcing her pregnancy at the age of 50. The father of her child was her then-husband, Wissam Al Mana, now 51.
She told fans: “I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour. Please, if you could try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”

Personal Life and Controversies
In January 2017, Janet welcomed her son, but soon after, she announced her split from El Mana. Rumors of marital troubles began to circulate when she appeared in public without her wedding ring just days after giving birth.
This was the third marriage for Janet, who was briefly married to singer James DeBarge in 1984. She later married Mexican back-up dancer Rene Elizondo in 1991, but the couple split in 2000. The details of their marriage were kept private, and Janet reportedly paid $10 million in the divorce settlement.
After marrying El Mana, Janet became more private and withdrawn, leading to speculation that she may have converted to Islam. These rumors were further fueled by her choice of attire over the years, which often involved covering her entire body and head. However, she never confirmed or denied these reports.
