Exciting Gold Discoveries at Ngot Project
A significant gold mineralisation has been found in the first drill hole at Ngot NE, which is the closest prospect to the Okvau gold mine within the Ngot project. The maiden hole returned 6m of gold at 1.8g/t from 143m, including 2m at 4.3g/t. This discovery is associated with a 2km long gold-in-soil anomaly that extends to the boundary of the Okvau licence.
The Ngot gold project in Cambodia is gaining momentum for Unity Metals after delivering high-grade results near the Okvau operations. The latest Ngot prospect showing promising geology lies along the same NNE-trending structural corridor that hosts the profitable Okvau gold mine operated by Emerald Resources (ASX:EMR).
Key Findings and Implications
The mineralisation at Ngot NE is linked to a large gold-in-soil anomaly that coincides with the strongest arsenic-in-soil anomaly discovered so far at Ngot. This suggests the potential for a high-grade deposit. Unity has drilled seven diamond holes for 1,090m at Ngot NE, with assays pending for six completed holes and more drilling planned.
Unlike other areas of the project, Ngot NE lacks outcrops or historical artisanal workings, making this initial success even more encouraging for Unity. These results complement the confidence built from recent high-grade first assays from Ngot Central and Rohav Mountain, which were part of the maiden drilling that began after Unity listed in January.
Additional Gold Intersections at Srolao
Unity has also recorded additional gold intersections close to the surface at the Srolao prospect, where drilling continues to define parallel mineralised vein systems. Notable intercepts include 9.9m at 1.9g/t Au from 34.1m, including 0.7m at 23.4g/t, and 5.8m at 1.1g/t Au from only 24.2m.
The individual veins at Srolao are among the thickest discovered within the Ngot project, reaching widths of up to 0.5m. Historical artisanal workings extend over more than 600m at the prospect, with previous rock chip sampling returning assays up to 27.4g/t Au. Soil sampling has outlined multiple stacked gold anomalies extending more than 1km in length, with peak soil results reaching 5,910 parts per billion gold.
So far, Unity has drilled nine diamond holes for 1,238m at Srolao, targeting high-grade veins exposed in artisanal workings and coincident soil anomalies.
Geologist’s Perspective and Future Plans
Unity’s founder and managing director, Craig Mackay, expressed excitement about the discoveries at all four prospects drilled at Ngot to date – Ngot Central, Rohav Mountain, Ngot NE, and Srolao. As a highly experienced geologist, Mackay noted that the high-grade assays and the initial look at Ngot continued to reveal Okvau-like geology.
“We are particularly excited about the results from the first drill hole at Ngot NE, which delivered a significant gold intersection of 6m at 1.8g/t gold, including 2m at 4.3g/t gold within the extensive and coincident gold and arsenic soil anomalies that strike over 2km,” Mackay said.
The Ngot NE Prospect lies along the same NNE-trending structural corridor that hosts the Okvau Gold Mine, only 2km to the north-northeast. Unity eagerly awaits the assays for the remaining eight drill holes being completed at the prospect.
Progress on Drilling Campaign
Unity’s broader 8,000m, 50-hole diamond drilling campaign at Ngot is nearly complete, with 92% of the program finished. Assays have been received for about 69% of the program, and results are pending for 11 completed holes across the Rohav Mountain and Ngot NE prospects.
