John Travolta Roasted for Cannes Red Carpet Look with Daughter Ella Bleu

John Travolta Makes a Bold Statement at Cannes

John Travolta made a dramatic and unusual appearance on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, drawing both admiration and mockery from fans. The 72-year-old actor, best known for his role in Grease, showcased a completely new look that left many questioning whether it was truly him.

Dressed in a beret and sporting a freshly dyed beard, Travolta posed with his daughter, Ella Bleu, 26, during the Karma screening. His transformation was so drastic that fans were quick to comment online, with some saying, “Who is that?” Others joked about the black beard, noting, “He’s in his 70s and his beard is black lmao.”

Travolta’s outfit included gold spectacles and a trimmer frame, giving him a bookish appearance that was both intriguing and bizarre. He didn’t stop there, pulling off a series of zany poses on the red carpet, including flashing the peace sign and dramatically throwing his hands into the air. Some fans found the look amusing, with one commenting, “Wow. He looks like a real artist now,” while another said, “Man’s still fine with all them wrinkles. Hello pappy.”

Despite the mixed reactions, Travolta was later seen emotional as he was presented with an honorary Palme d’Or ahead of the world premiere of his directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach, which stars Ella Bleu.

In a heartfelt speech, Travolta said, “This is beyond the Oscar. Surprise completement! I can’t believe this. This is the last thing I expected.” He expressed deep gratitude to Cannes director Thierry Fremaux, stating, “You said this would be a special night, but I didn’t know it would mean this.”

The film, based on the 1997 children’s book of the same name that Travolta wrote, tells the story of a young airplane enthusiast Jeff (played by newcomer Clark Shotwell) and his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) who set off on a one-way cross-country odyssey to Hollywood. The journey includes airline meals, charming flight attendants, unexpected stopovers, and larger-than-life passengers, making for a magical and unpredictable trip.

According to the official synopsis, the movie explores how a simple flight turns into the trip of a lifetime, charting the course for the boy’s future. The story also reflects Travolta’s lifelong passion for aviation, inspired by his childhood memories of watching planes take off from LaGuardia airport in New York.

Travolta and his late wife, Kelly Preston, also share sons Ben, 15, and the late Jett, who died in 2009 aged 16 after suffering a seizure during a family vacation in the Bahamas. The book serves as a tribute to their shared love for flying and the adventures that come with it.

As Travolta continues to explore new creative avenues, his latest project promises to be a meaningful addition to his legacy. With the support of his daughter and a cast of talented newcomers, Propeller One-Way Night Coach is set to captivate audiences and offer a fresh perspective on the magic of travel and adventure.
