CSK set a challenging target of 187/5 in their 20 overs, with the middle order playing a crucial role in building the innings. Kartik Sharma was the standout performer for CSK, scoring a brilliant 71 off just 42 balls. His innings included six fours and five sixes, resulting in a strike rate of 169.05. He formed a vital 70-run partnership with Dewald Brevis for the fourth wicket, which lasted 44 balls.

After both players were dismissed, Shivam Dube and Prashant Veer took charge, with Dube remaining unbeaten on 32 runs from 16 balls. This helped CSK post a competitive total. On the bowling front, Akash Maharaj Singh was the key performer for LSG, taking three wickets for 26 runs in four overs.

In response, Lucknow Super Giants chased down the target with ease, reaching 188/3 in just 16.4 overs. Mitchell Marsh played a pivotal role in the chase, scoring an incredible 90 off 38 balls. Mitchell Marsh made history during the match, becoming the first player to reach 100 IPL sixes. He also hit the most sixes for Lucknow Super Giants in a single season, with 31 sixes in IPL 2026.

His partnership with Josh Inglis for 135 runs remains the third-highest for LSG in the franchise’s history. Marsh has been involved in five of LSG’s nine century partnerships in IPL history, highlighting his importance to the team.

He smashed 67 sixes across IPL 2025-2026, surpassing Abhishek Sharma (65) to become the leading six-hitter in the league. Marsh also scored 56* off 22 balls in the powerplay, one of the fastest fifties for LSG in the first six overs.

LSG posted a strong powerplay score of 86/0 against CSK, marking their third-highest total in the first six overs. Anshul Kamboj conceded 28 runs in an over, the most expensive powerplay over by a CSK bowler.

Marsh’s 28-run over equals the highest by an LSG batter in IPL history, a feat previously achieved by Nicholas Pooran. Pooran now holds the record for the most outfield catches for LSG, with 21 catches to his name.

LSG used a unique strategy of seam bowling for 16 overs against CSK, marking their fifth instance of such a tactic in an IPL match. This approach highlighted the team’s adaptability and ability to adjust to different conditions.
