We’re loyal to Baby Yoda 💚

A New Adventure in the “Star Wars” Galaxy

Whether you call him Grogu or Baby Yoda, he’s undeniably the most beloved character in the “Star Wars” universe. His adorable presence has captured the hearts of fans across the galaxy, and now, with the release of “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” the dynamic duo of Pedro Pascal’s Mando and his adopted son are set for a new adventure. This film marks the first “Star Wars” movie in theaters in seven years, making it a must-see this Memorial Day weekend. Don’t forget to grab an AT-AT popcorn bucket while you’re at it.

The Mandalorian and Grogu: A Space Romp Worth Watching

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” is a refreshing departure from the previous “Star Wars” film, 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.” While that movie left many fans disappointed, this cinematic extension of the Disney+ series offers a unique and enjoyable space adventure. Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu embark on a mission to hunt down Imperial warlords and take on intergalactic gangsters. It’s a fun and engaging ride that stays true to the “Star Wars” spirit.

For those eager to dive deeper into the world of Mando, there are plenty of resources available. My colleague Brendan Morrow provides a comprehensive overview of all things Mando, while Patrick Ryan gives insights into what viewers can expect from the new movie. Additionally, I updated my “Star Wars” movie rankings and had an insightful conversation with Pedro Pascal about Mando being the best space dad in the galaxy. I also spoke with director Jon Favreau and Lucasfilm head Dave Filoni about the future of the franchise.

Stream John Krasinski’s Spy Thriller ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’

Amazon Prime Video has produced several action-packed shows based on literary heroes, including “Reacher,” “Cross,” and “Bosch.” One of the standout series was “Jack Ryan,” featuring John Krasinski as Tom Clancy’s CIA operative. With the series concluded, Jack Ryan returns in the film “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War.” While the film brings back familiar faces like Wendell Pierce and introduces new talent such as Sienna Miller, it lacks the depth of storytelling that made the show so compelling.

This movie is just one of many streaming options perfect for a long weekend. Here’s a list of what’s new, including the Jessie Buckley film “The Bride!” and the comedy “Ladies First” starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike.

Netflix’s ‘The Boroughs’: A Sci-Fi Series for All Ages

While kids have “Stranger Things,” their grandparents have “The Boroughs.” This new Netflix sci-fi series, executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, is now streaming. It stars Alfred Molina as a widower who moves to a New Mexico retirement community and encounters a monstrous creature. He teams up with fellow residents, played by Bill Pullman, Alfre Woodard, Clarke Peters, Geena Davis, and Denis O’Hare.

My colleague Erin Jensen spoke with the filmmakers and cast about the show, which co-creator Jeffrey Addiss describes as “a coming-of-age story, just of a different age.” The series explores the journey of aging and challenges the notion that older actors are only cast in specific roles. Clarke Peters believes that performers in the twilight of their careers often become commodities, fitting roles based on their age and appearance rather than their talent.
