Report: Tom Hardy Kicked Off MobLand Over Conflict With Producers

Tom Hardy’s Departure from MobLand

Tom Hardy, the 48-year-old British actor, has reportedly been let go from the popular Paramount+ series MobLand. The actor, known for his role as fixer Harry Da Souza alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, is said to not be returning for the upcoming third season of the show.

According to insiders, Hardy had several conflicts with producers on set. He was also accused of arriving late for work, a behavior that reportedly led to shouting matches with Charlize Theron during the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road. It was later claimed that Theron was so frightened by his conduct that she was “scared s**tless.”

A source close to the MobLand project stated that Hardy was often late and pushed for changes in the script. He also reportedly offered suggestions on the script without being asked.

Report Claims Tensions on Set

One insider mentioned that Hardy was frustrated because the series was shifting focus more towards his co-stars, Mirren and Brosnan. This tension reportedly escalated with producer Jez Butterworth, who threatened to quit the project.

The Puck newsletter, written by Matthew Belloni, reported that Paramount recently decided not to renew Hardy for season three. The report also cited clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser during the production of season two. According to the newsletter, the producers could no longer tolerate Hardy’s alleged behavior.

Tom Hardy’s History of On-Set Tensions

This isn’t the first time Hardy has faced on-set tensions. During the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015, he reportedly had arguments with his co-star Charlize Theron. Reports indicated that the actors had screaming matches over his lateness.

The gritty series follows powerful London crime bosses Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, played by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, as they fight against a rival syndicate threatening their empire.

Paramount and Hardy have not commented on the situation, according to Puck News. The Daily Mail has reached out to Hardy’s representatives for further details.

Hardy’s Health Struggles

It was previously reported that Hardy planned to take a break after finishing filming on MobLand, citing the need for rest. In an interview with Esquire UK, he spoke about his physical struggles, mentioning two knee surgeries, a herniated disc in his back, sciatica, and plantar fasciitis. He also mentioned pulling a tendon in his hip, stating, “It’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”

In 2022, Hardy responded to reports that Charlize Theron felt threatened by his behavior on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road. The pair worked together on the movie but had such a volatile relationship that they were often involved in intense shouting matches. Theron reportedly called him a [Expletive] after he made her wait on set for hours.

According to Kyle Buchanan’s book, Theron had a female producer accompany her at all times as “protection” due to her fear of Hardy’s “aggressive” behavior.

Addressing the tension, Hardy admitted to Buchanan: “In hindsight, I was in over my head in many ways. The pressure on both of us was overwhelming at times. What she needed was a better, perhaps more experienced partner in me. That’s something that can’t be faked. I’d like to think that now that I’m older and uglier, I could rise to that occasion.”
