A New Take on a Classic Superhero
Nicholas Galitzine, the British actor known for his role in the new reboot of Masters of The Universe, has shared his vision for the modern portrayal of He-Man. The 31-year-old actor emphasized that he wanted to make the character more “accessible” and add a “sensitivity” that wasn’t present in the original series.
In the film, Galitzine plays Prince Adam, who is sent to live on Earth as a baby and later discovers his destiny as the superhero He-Man, the protector of his home planet Eternia. The movie centers around the origin story of He-Man, following him as he prepares for battle against the forces of evil, including the villain Skeletor, played by Jared Leto from Suicide Squad.
The upcoming film is a reboot of the 1987 original, which starred Dolph Lundgren and was based on the Masters of The Universe franchise created by Mattel. This franchise includes animated series, comics, and other media.
During a red carpet event at the UK premiere in central London, Galitzine praised director Travis Knight for adapting more than 130 episodes from the original series into the film. He said, “He assembled a team of people who were really very focused on creating fan service for the existing fans, but also making a movie that felt modern, that felt current.”
Galitzine added that he wanted to create a version of He-Man who was still “musclebound” but had a “sensitivity” and “accessibility” that made him relatable. He described landing the role as an “incredible honour” and expressed his hope that audiences would enjoy the film as much as he did while making it.

Supporting Cast and Character Development
The film features a strong supporting cast, including Idris Elba as Duncan or Man-At-Arms, He-Man’s ally, and Camila Mendes as Teela, Adam’s protector. Mendes spoke about honoring Teela’s original legacy in the film. She said, “I love her origin story, I feel like that was very inspiring. I think something that I feel like we really stay true to is that Teela is very stubborn and hot-headed and she’s a leader in the filmation cartoon, and I feel like that definitely translates in the film as well.”
She also highlighted the character’s admiration for He-Man’s strength and courage, noting that Teela often wishes for someone who embodies both traits. “Something she says throughout the series is ‘Oh I wish there was a guy who was both of those things’ because she doesn’t know that he is both of those things,” Mendes explained.

A Star-Studded Lineup
Other notable cast members include Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Kristen Wiig voicing Roboto, and Morena Baccarin as Deadpool. James Purefoy stars as King Randor, He-Man’s father and ruler of Eternia. Speaking about the film’s themes, Purefoy mentioned the discussion around toxic masculinity and what it means to be male. “King Randor is very much of the old gen and comes to regret that as the movie progresses that perhaps there are different ways and different approaches about being a man, which aren’t to do with just bare-knuckle fighting,” he said.

The Legacy of Masters of the Universe
Originally an action figure toy line, the Masters of The Universe franchise expanded into comic books, animated TV series, video games, books, magazines, and films. The new reboot follows the 1987 film, which featured Lundgren, Frank Langella, and Courteney Cox.
The film aims to bring a fresh perspective to the classic story while respecting its roots. With a mix of nostalgia and modern storytelling, it promises to appeal to both longtime fans and new audiences.
