Ioan Gruffudd’s Wife Bianca Wallace Knew She Was Pregnant as MS Symptoms Faded

A New Chapter for Bianca Wallace

Australian actress Bianca Wallace has recently shared her experiences as a new mother, offering a heartfelt glimpse into her life. The 33-year-old, who is married to actor Ioan Gruffudd, welcomed her daughter Mila in November. This came seven months after their wedding in April. Wallace’s journey as a mother has been intertwined with her ongoing battle against multiple sclerosis (MS), which she has lived with since her teenage years.

Wallace, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of MS eight years ago at the age of 25, has always faced challenges with resilience. She revealed that she suspected she was pregnant when she started feeling unusually well. This is a common occurrence during pregnancy, as MS symptoms often go into remission.

“I felt this big wave come over me and I thought, oh, I’m pregnant,” Wallace told Hello! magazine. “It was almost like an epiphany moment. I beelined to the bathroom and sure enough, within about five minutes, [I had a positive test].”

Her MS diagnosis was a life-changing event, leading her to make significant changes in her life. Wallace previously shared how it inspired her to leave her accounting job in Brisbane and pursue a career in acting. This decision also led her to end her first marriage.

“I was stuck in a terrible marriage with no support. My now ex-husband would disappear for days,” she wrote in a piece for Telegraph UK.

Initially, Wallace hoped that her pregnancy would bring about a permanent change in her MS symptoms. However, this hope was quickly dashed just two weeks after giving birth.

“MS comes in and it reminds you pretty quickly of who’s in charge,” she told the magazine. “As soon as you get cocky, MS comes in and smacks you across the head.”

Being a mother has made Wallace more cautious about taking risks with her condition. She emphasized the importance of safety, especially with her newborn in her arms.

“The absolute number one thing that being a mum with MS has changed for me is I no longer stand up and walk,” she told Hello!. “I stand very still until I know I’m not going to stumble or fall, because I’ve now got a baby in my arms. I’ve got a lot less bruises.”

A New Relationship

Bianca Wallace and Ioan Gruffudd began dating in 2021 after meeting on the set of the TV series Harrow. Their relationship, however, faced some challenges early on. Gruffudd’s estranged wife, actress Alice Evans, claimed the couple had a three-year affair, which they have denied.

Wallace insists that they started dating three months after his 14-year marriage ended in March 2021. Despite these allegations, the couple has continued to build their lives together, focusing on their family and future.
