Galaxy Z Flip 8: Snapdragon in Some Regions, Exynos Elsewhere

Samsung may be preparing for an intriguing change with the Galaxy Z Flip 8, based on recent leaks. Instead of using Exynos as the sole processor, the company could adopt a dual-processor approach.

According to reports, some versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might run on Samsung’s Exynos 2600, while others could come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (likely a version tailored for Galaxy devices). If this is true, it would mark a return of Snapdragon in select markets after Samsung focused more on Exynos with the Z Flip 7.

The split is not expected to be arbitrary. Markets such as the US, Canada, China, and Japan could receive Snapdragon-powered units, while India, Europe, and South Korea may get the Exynos version.

Samsung traditionally used Qualcomm Snapdragon chips for its foldables, including flip models, until it changed its strategy last year. However, there is still some doubt about the efficiency and thermal performance of Samsung’s own chips. Choosing Snapdragon for key markets like the US and Canada could help position the Flip 8 as a more reliable performer, while the Exynos variants may help keep costs lower. This decision could also reflect limited production capacity for Samsung’s first 2nm chip.

Some tests suggest that the Exynos 2600 is closing the gap with Snapdragon in several areas, particularly in multi-core processing and power efficiency, thanks to its 2nm-based deca-core architecture. However, Snapdragon versions are still seen as offering a more consistent user experience across apps and regions.

If these reports are accurate, it wouldn’t be the first time Samsung has used different chipsets in different regions. However, it would be one of the more significant splits in the foldable lineup. The Z Flip 8 is expected to launch alongside the Z Fold 8 around July 22, 2026, though Samsung has not confirmed anything yet.

For now, this remains in the realm of speculation. But it does indicate that Samsung is continuing its dual-track strategy: advancing Exynos while still relying on Qualcomm where it matters most.
