A New Era for Audi: The Nuvolari Supercar
Audi has made a bold move in the supercar arena with the introduction of its latest creation, the Nuvolari. This high-performance vehicle is not just another addition to the brand’s lineup; it’s a statement of intent. Priced at around £500,000, the Nuvolari is a limited-run hybrid supercar that promises to deliver an exhilarating driving experience.
Named after the legendary 1930s racing driver Tazio Nuvolari, the Nuvolari is positioned as the spiritual successor to the R8. It represents a significant step forward for Audi, aiming to rival the likes of Ferrari, McLaren, and Lamborghini. Unlike Ferrari’s controversial electric Luce, which faced criticism and led to a drop in shares, Audi’s approach with the Nuvolari seems to resonate more with traditional supercar enthusiasts.
Power and Performance
The Nuvolari is powered by a 788bhp twin-turbocharged V8 engine, sourced from Lamborghini, paired with three electric motors. This combination results in a total power output of 986bhp, making it one of the most powerful vehicles in its class. The electric motors, two of which are located on the front axle, each produce 147bhp and are powered by a 7.3kWh battery.
While the exact electric range of the Nuvolari remains unconfirmed, it is expected to be similar to the sister model, the Lamborghini Temerario, which offers about 10 miles of electric range. The powertrain, active aerodynamics, and Audi Space Frame (ASF) construction are all inspired by Formula 1, reflecting Audi’s commitment to innovation and performance.
Design and Technology
The Nuvolari features a mid-engined layout that gives it a classic supercar look, with a powerful low stance and a retractable wing. The V8 cooling vents, openings, and movable aero parts all have a strong F1 influence. This design not only enhances the car’s aesthetics but also improves its performance.
The Nuvolari is the first Audi to follow the brand’s new ‘Concept C’ design language and also debuts Audi’s new trademark Titanium colour. The carbon exterior allows the Nuvolari to achieve a top speed of 217mph, making it a formidable presence on the road.

Drive Modes and Innovation
The Nuvolari offers five drive settings, including an ‘E-Hybrid’ all-electric mode, as well as ‘Normal’, ‘Balanced’, ‘Dynamic’, ‘Dynamic +’, and ‘Track’. The Track mode enables adjustment of traction control to suit different driving styles and available grip, allowing for ‘transparent, controllable driving behaviour right up to the physical limits’.
Additionally, the Nuvolari features ‘Quattro Predictive Ride’, a form of machine learning that uses detailed sensors to read road data and continuously feed it into the control system. This technology ensures that the vehicle can adapt to various driving conditions, enhancing both performance and safety.

Interior Design and Experience
Inside the Nuvolari, the cabin is designed with a ‘reduced architecture’ to ensure that drivers remain focused on the road. Essential controls are easily accessible, while secondary data remains in the background. Both digital displays and physical controls follow this no-nonsense approach, creating a seamless driving experience.
The interior embodies quiet luxury, with the cabin divided into two zones through dark and light colour tones. This design is a nod to the legendary Auto Union Type C race car and the record-breaking motorsport era of the 1930s. The front section is deep and dark in tone for concentration, while the rear is lighter, offering a balanced aesthetic.

All materials used in the Nuvolari are of the highest standard, with controls and air vents crafted from anodised aluminium. The lightweight seats are made from carbon fibre, ensuring comfort without compromising on performance.
One thing’s for certain: the Nuvolari is the car petrolheads will be turning to instead of a zero-emissions Ferrari. With its blend of power, performance, and innovative technology, the Nuvolari is set to make a significant impact in the supercar market.
