AUSTRALIA – The Gold Coast Titans have received a significant boost ahead of Friday night’s NRL clash against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, with captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui returning to the side for the Round 17 encounter at Cbus Super Stadium.
Fresh from State of Origin commitments, the influential front-row forward is set to strengthen the Titans as they look to secure consecutive victories following last weekend’s thrilling win over competition leaders Penrith Panthers. Gold Coast will also draw confidence from a strong recent record against the Bulldogs, having won their last three home matches against Canterbury-Bankstown.
The Titans have also regained Chris Randall, who returns after completing concussion protocols. Randall will take over at lock from Cooper Bai, who was unable to pass his head injury assessment.
Meanwhile, Jaylan De Groot has been named on the wing to replace Jensen Taumoepeau. The change comes after Taumoepeau underwent surgery on a dislocated ankle sustained last weekend.
Friday’s match will once again feature the club’s annual Super Hero Showdown, one of the most popular themed events on the NRL calendar. In partnership with Warner Bros. Movie World, the stadium precinct will host appearances by well-known superhero characters before kick-off, while the fan-favourite superhero-themed halftime entertainment will also return.
The Titans will additionally take part in the NRL’s nationwide “Beanies for Brain Cancer” campaign during Round 17, showing support for the Mark Hughes Foundation and its efforts to raise awareness and funding for brain cancer research.
The match between the Titans and Bulldogs is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast. (Ali)
