Kim Joo-ha Faces Drug Test Over Ex-Husband’s Claims

Personal Struggles and Public Revelation

Anchor Kim Joo-ha recently shared a deeply personal story on the YouTube channel MKTV Kim Mi-kyung TV. She discussed her book titled ‘꽁꽁 얼어붙은 한강 위로 고양이가 걸어갑니다’, which delves into her life experiences. During the conversation, she revealed that she had to undergo a drug test at a police station due to her ex-husband. This event was part of a broader narrative about her challenging divorce and the emotional toll it took on her family.

Kim Joo-ha mentioned that the divorce lawsuit lasted approximately three years. She also highlighted that she had not received any child support from her ex-husband. He never came to meet their children or provide financial assistance. The host, Kim Mi-kyung, commented on how people often perceive individuals differently than they actually are. She noted that her ex-husband appeared to be a fine man with a good education and job, but his behavior contradicted this image.

The Drug Test Experience

Kim Joo-ha described the experience of undergoing a drug test as humiliating. She explained that she had to provide 150 strands of hair and a urine sample. A female officer was present during the process to ensure she did not submit someone else’s sample. This was particularly distressing for her, as she had always entered and exited police stations for reporting purposes, not as an accused individual.

She recalled that her ex-husband called a lawyer while at the police station. When she questioned why he needed a lawyer if the test would be negative, he responded by kissing her scalp and saying, “For your sake.” This gesture was reportedly intended to keep the fact that she, a public figure, was being investigated from becoming public knowledge.

Emotional Impact and Domestic Violence

The situation escalated further when Kim Joo-ha recounted how the narcotics investigators nearby looked at her enviously, commenting on how rare it was to find a husband like her ex-husband. She emphasized the shocking contrast between his earlier violent behavior towards her and his sudden act of affection. This experience led her to understand that many men who commit violence may not show it outwardly.

When asked for advice for those experiencing domestic violence, Kim Joo-ha stressed the importance of immediate action. She mentioned that victims often face stigma, being labeled as “divorced women” and struggling to find acceptance. Despite this, she hopes to create a socially recognized image of herself as a strong woman.

Background and Legal Proceedings

Kim Joo-ha married Mr. A in 2004 and had two children. After nine years of marriage, she filed for divorce in 2013, accusing Mr. A of habitual assault on her and the children. At the time, the police stated they had investigated based on a report that Mr. A smoked marijuana. However, the National Forensic Service’s analysis showed a negative result. This incident highlights the complex challenges faced by victims of domestic violence and the need for greater awareness and support.
