Namibia Hosts Africa’s Premier Cybersecurity Summit

Overview of the Namibia International Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition (NICSC) 2026

The Namibia International Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition (NICSC) 2026 is set to take place from 22 to 24 April at Arebbusch Travel Lodge in Windhoek. This event aims to bring together experts, leaders, and practitioners from various sectors to discuss the evolving landscape of cybersecurity in Africa.

Significance of the Conference

According to the conference spokesperson, Lloyd Sibeka, the importance of cybersecurity has grown beyond technical concerns. He emphasized that, “As Africa accelerates its digital transformation, cybersecurity is no longer a technical issue alone – it is an economic, social and national security priority.” This perspective highlights the need for a multi-faceted approach to addressing cyber threats.

Theme and Objectives

The conference will be held under the theme, “Securing Africa’s Digital Future: Innovation, Resilience, and Sovereignty.” This theme reflects the conference’s goal of positioning Namibia as a regional hub for cybersecurity dialogue and cooperation. It also aims to contribute to skills development, awareness, and policy alignment across the continent.

Focus Areas and Activities

Sibeka explained that the conference will provide a practical and inclusive space for leaders and practitioners to share knowledge and learn from real incidents. Additionally, it will serve as a platform for partnerships that strengthen collective resilience against cyber threats.

The lineup of speakers and panellists includes representatives from Namibia and South Africa, covering a wide range of sectors such as banking, telecommunications, academia, audit, regulatory bodies, and cybersecurity firms. This diverse participation ensures a comprehensive discussion on various aspects of cybersecurity.

Daily Schedule

The first day of the conference will focus on practical cybersecurity awareness and threat preparedness. Day two will center on high-level policy and technical discussions, while the final day is dedicated to National Key Asset Protection. This day will emphasize safeguarding critical infrastructure such as energy, water, telecommunications, finance, and mining.

Public Exhibition and Networking Opportunities

In addition to the conference sessions, a public exhibition will showcase the latest cybersecurity and digital solutions. This exhibition offers numerous opportunities for the public to engage with emerging technologies and ideas. The conference will conclude with a Cyber Gala Dinner, providing a networking opportunity for attendees.

Group Participation and Registration

Sibeka noted that there is growing interest from organizations that want to attend as teams rather than individuals. He added that group participation allows institutions to build shared understanding and capacity, which are essential components when dealing with cyber risks that affect entire organizations and sectors.

Registration Deadline

The deadline for early bird registration is 31 March. This provides ample time for interested parties to secure their spots and prepare for what promises to be a significant event in the cybersecurity calendar.
