NFL draft organizer reveals fan event plans

As the NFL Draft approaches, the city is preparing for a vibrant celebration of football that will take place across multiple locations. For those driving into the city from the Fort Pitt Tunnel, the anticipation is palpable, with the stage being set for an unforgettable event.

The NFL Draft experience will extend throughout the draft footprint, offering a variety of activities and exhibits that are all free to the public. These events will be spread out across Point State Park and the north shore, ensuring that fans have plenty to explore during the three-day event.

On the Point State Park side, one of the highlights will be the red carpet where NFL Draft prospects will walk ahead of the first round. This will provide a unique opportunity for fans to witness the excitement of the draft up close. After the first round, the red carpet will transform into a fan photo opportunity, allowing visitors to capture memories with their favorite players.

In addition to the red carpet, there will be an autograph stage where Steelers players, legends, and other NFL stars will interact with fans. This is a fantastic chance for fans to meet their idols and get autographs, making the event even more memorable.

On the North Shore, the excitement continues with more than just the massive draft theatre. The area will feature a locker room exhibit and a Hall of Fame exhibit, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the history and legacy of the NFL. The existing turf outside the stadium, which the Steelers installed, will also be used for various activities. This includes the “Play 60” zone, which encourages physical activity and healthy living among fans.

There will also be additional NFL shops, food and beverage vendors, and bars, creating a lively atmosphere that caters to all tastes. The North Shore will serve as a hub of activity, offering something for everyone during the draft weekend.

Nicki Ewell, Vice President of NFL Global Events, emphasized the importance of preparation for fans attending the event. She encouraged attendees to download the NFL One Pass App and register before heading downtown during draft week. This app will provide essential information, including what to know before you go, the schedule of events, any changes, and a map of the entire draft layout. It’s a valuable tool that ensures fans can make the most of their time at the event.
