Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Lineup Expansion
Samsung is reportedly considering adding a fourth device to its Galaxy S smartphone series, with the Galaxy S27 Pro expected to launch next year. This new model will sit between the Galaxy S27 Ultra and the standard and Plus variants, creating a more tiered structure within the lineup.
The decision to expand the range appears to be a response to Apple’s strategy of offering four models: two standard and two Pro editions. While Samsung’s approach is described as a straightforward tiered system, it aims to provide consumers with more choices in the high-end smartphone market.
According to reports from a reliable source in South Korea, the Galaxy S27 Pro will not support the S Pen, which is a feature currently exclusive to the Ultra model. However, it will include the Privacy Display, a feature that gained attention on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The absence of S Pen support could be a key differentiator between the next-generation Ultra and Pro models.
ET News, a well-known publication for insights into Samsung’s plans, has quoted two officials who are familiar with the matter. One official stated: “We plan to add a pro to two high-end models with only one Ultra model.” They also mentioned that while the detailed specifications, such as screen size, have not been confirmed, the new high-end model will share most technologies with the Ultra but without the pen function.
Another official added: “We plan to increase the number of models applying ‘Privacy Display’, which attracted a sensation in the S26 Ultra, to two in the next work.” They also noted that this feature is being applied to the newly added model.
It is likely that more details about Samsung’s plans will emerge towards the end of the year. However, the new phones are expected to arrive no earlier than February next year. In the meantime, consumers can look forward to the next generation of foldable devices, including a wider version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
