Soap icon Susan Lucci, 79, dazzles with timeless beauty in New York

A Glamorous Appearance at The Drew Barrymore Show

Susan Lucci, a name synonymous with glamour and iconic soap opera roles, made a striking appearance at the taping of The Drew Barrymore Show in New York City on Monday. At 79 years old, she effortlessly turned heads with her stylish yet simple outfit. She opted for a pair of leggings paired with a bright yellow top that flowed elegantly around her waist. To add some flair to her look, she chose a pair of designer stilettos from Christian Dior.

She completed her ensemble with a grey Birkin handbag and oversized sunglasses, making sure to stay comfortable in the windy weather by wrapping herself in an oversized Moncler puffer jacket valued at approximately $3,600.

A New Role on the Horizon

Despite being best known for her work in soap operas, Lucci is set to take on a new challenge in the Apple TV+ film Outcome. This black comedy, written and directed by Jonah Hill, follows an actor who is caught in a web of blackmail while trying to maintain his sobriety. The film also features Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, and David Spade in key roles.

After appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Lucci transitioned into a strapless blue gown for the premiere of Outcome. The figure-hugging frock was adorned with pink floral details, highlighting her timeless elegance.

Coping with Grief

Earlier this year, Lucci opened up about the lingering ‘grief triggers’ she still experiences following the passing of her husband, Helmut Huber. The couple had been married for 52 years, and Huber’s death in 2022 at the age of 84 left a deep void in her life. Lucci described feeling ‘completely lost’ and ‘so alone’ after his passing, just one month after he suffered a stroke.

She admitted that the pain of his absence still hits in waves and often catches her off guard. Despite the emotional challenges, Lucci finds solace in remembering the life they built together. The couple had two children, daughter Liza, 50, and son Andreas, 45, and Lucci describes their life as ‘such a gift.’

Memories of a Loving Partnership

For Lucci, holidays remain especially difficult, as the absence of her husband at the family table is impossible to ignore. However, she has learned to accept these moments without resistance. ‘I don’t fight it,’ she said. ‘I’m surprised sometimes by it. Certainly there are things like the holidays that are triggers – someone who should be sitting at the table. But I just go with it.’

When asked what she misses most about her late husband, Lucci admitted, ‘Everything.’ She added, ‘It’s hard to say one thing. I just miss him, miss his presence, miss sharing things together, like coffee in the morning.’

A Love Story That Lasted a Lifetime

Lucci and Huber met while working at a hotel, and they became engaged after just three weeks of dating. They married in September 1969, marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership. Huber played a significant role in Lucci’s career, acting as her manager and serving as CEO of Pine Valley Productions, the company named after the fictional town where All My Children was set.

Lucci first portrayed the iconic character Erica Kane in 1970 and continued to play the role until the show ended in 2011. Her other notable roles include Dallas, Hot in Cleveland, and Devious Maids.
