Mark Wahlberg’s Low-Key Arrival in Australia
Hollywood superstar Mark Wahlberg made a surprisingly low-key appearance when he arrived in Australia this week. The Boogie Nights star, now 54, was spotted stepping off his private jet in Sydney on Thursday. He is set to begin filming the Netflix movie The Big Fix during his stay.
Wahlberg’s arrival marked a stark contrast to his earlier days as a ’90s hip-hop icon with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. His look has evolved significantly over the years, moving away from the baggy jeans and Calvin Klein underwear that once defined his image. Instead, he opted for a more subdued style, featuring a thick, dark brown goatee that may be part of his preparations for an upcoming role.
His outfit included a crisp white polo shirt with a textured honeycomb pattern, paired with a navy blue suede bomber jacket. To keep warm, he wore light blue jeans cinched at the waist with a belt and a pair of AUD $2,015 blue suede Zegna sneakers. A plain white baseball cap completed his look.

Wahlberg was seen carrying his own luggage across the tarmac, including two leather bags and what appeared to be a portable sound bar. Despite his busy schedule, he seemed to enjoy his time in Australia, engaging with fans by chatting and taking selfies.
This isn’t the first time Wahlberg has chosen Australia as a filming location. The Big Fix will be his third film shot in the country. In 2024, he filmed the Amazon crime thriller Play Dirty in Sydney, followed by the action-comedy Balls Up in Queensland. The new film is based on a true story and is adapted from a book by Brett Forrest. It follows a former Interpol officer who uncovers a global match-fixing operation while working within FIFA. Wahlberg will star alongside Riz Ahmed and Chin Han, known for his role in The Dark Knight.

In addition to his acting career, Wahlberg has strong business ties to Australia. His Wahlburgers restaurant chain operates five locations across New South Wales and Queensland. He is also a major investor and board member of the Australian gym chain F45 Training.
When asked about his repeated visits to Australia on the Today show in April, Wahlberg simply said, “Paradise.” He added that the amount of talent coming out of the country, both in front of and behind the camera, is astonishing.
Family Moments and Personal Life
Recently, Wahlberg posed for a rare family portrait to celebrate his teenage daughter Grace’s church confirmation. In the photo, he wrapped his arm around his 16-year-old daughter, with his wife Rhea Durham and their eldest daughter Ella Rae, 22, also present. Mark was dressed in his Sunday best, wearing a grey polo shirt with black trousers and suede boat shoes. He had his arm around his youngest daughter, who stood in the middle, and his other arm around the shoulders of the bishop.

Just days before, Durham shared a photo of Wahlberg holding up crosses he made with his food while celebrating Palm Sunday. The couple has been married since 2009 and have four children together: daughters Ella Rae, 22, and Grace, 16, and sons Michael, 20, and Brendan Joseph, 17.
