Detroit Pistons Make History with Dramatic Comeback
The Detroit Pistons staged a remarkable comeback in the NBA play-offs, overcoming a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Orlando Magic and advance to the Eastern Conference semi-finals. In the final match of their best-of-seven series, the Pistons secured a commanding 116-94 victory, marking their first play-off series win since 2008.

The Pistons will now face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the semi-finals, another best-of-seven series that begins on 5 May. The Cavaliers advanced to the second round after defeating the Toronto Raptors with an 114-102 victory.
Jarrett Allen was instrumental in the Cavaliers’ win, scoring 22 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. Despite facing a 10-point deficit after the first quarter, the Cavaliers showed incredible determination, tying the game at 49-49 by halftime. The third quarter proved decisive as Allen contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Cavaliers take control of the game.
Allen reflected on his performance, saying:
“I just wanted to show my team-mates that we can win this game. Energy and effort, that’s what I believe wins games. Every single possession, it means a lot. Every single possession means it could be the end of the season.”
Donovan Mitchell added 22 points, while James Harden contributed 18 points for the Cavaliers. For the Raptors, who made their play-off return since 2022, Scottie Barnes scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while RJ Barrett added 23 points.
