Rudy Giuliani’s Hospitalization and Recovery
Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, has been battling pneumonia while receiving treatment at a hospital in Florida. The 81-year-old was reported to be breathing on his own and able to communicate with his children after being taken off a ventilator. His condition remains serious, and he may need to stay in the facility for several more days.
Giuliani’s children, Caroline and Andrew, rushed to the Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach after their father was admitted for treatment on Sunday night. They were by his side on Monday as he made a slow but encouraging recovery. Despite their political differences, Caroline, a Democrat and activist filmmaker, set aside her disagreements with her father over his support for President Donald Trump to be at his bedside. Meanwhile, Andrew, a former pro golfer and current head of the 2026 World Cup task force for the White House, also joined his family during this time.

John Catsimatidis, a billionaire and longtime friend of Giuliani, shared positive news about his condition. According to the New York Post, Catsimatidis learned from a former close aide that Giuliani was alert and talking, which he described as great news.
President Trump praised Giuliani as a “True Warrior” and “the best mayor in the history of New York City, by far.” Giuliani’s business partner, Tom von Essen, who worked as the New York City Fire Commissioner during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, noted that the former mayor had a tough weekend.

Giuliani’s spokesman, Ted Goodman, confirmed that the former mayor is recovering from pneumonia. He added that Giuliani’s condition, which includes restrictive airway disease from the 9/11 attacks, complicates any respiratory illness. The virus quickly overwhelmed his body, requiring mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen levels.
Giuliani recently held a livestream on his Facebook page, where he could be heard coughing. He mentioned that his voice was “a little under the weather,” indicating that he was already experiencing symptoms before his hospitalization.

Giuliani has been a controversial figure in American politics, known for his role in challenging the 2020 election results alongside Trump. His actions led to defamation lawsuits, which he eventually settled in court. Despite this, he remains a prominent voice in Republican circles.
In November of last year, Giuliani was pardoned by Trump for his involvement in the election challenge. He also gained attention for his infamous speech outside the Four Seasons landscaping business in Pennsylvania, where Trump was attempting to overturn the election.
In 2023, Giuliani filed for bankruptcy, owing $153 million to creditors, including two Georgia election workers he defamed. His career began as a prosecutor, where he took on mobsters and corrupt Wall Street traders. He later became mayor of New York City in 1993, where he implemented policies such as the “broken windows” philosophy and the controversial stop-and-frisk program.
Giuliani ran for the Senate in 2000 but dropped out after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. He also ran for president in 2008 before withdrawing and supporting John McCain.
