A Tragic Loss and a Lasting Legacy
A Sydney mother, Kali Blundell, passed away five months after giving birth to her baby girl, leaving behind a husband, a daughter, and a community in mourning. Known for her ambition and vibrant personality, Kali was remembered as someone who lived life to the fullest.
Kali, 32, from Allambie Heights, suffered a brain aneurysm while at the gym in mid-April. Despite her sudden illness, she fought bravely but ultimately passed away in hospital a week later. Her death left her husband, Brandon, with whom she had been in a relationship since they were both 15 years old, and their newborn daughter, Ruby, heartbroken.
Despite the tragedy, Kali made a heroic decision to donate her organs, helping five other people in the process. This act of generosity is a testament to her selflessness and the positive impact she had on others.
Supporting the Family
To help support Kali’s family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched. The funds will be used to cover funeral and medical expenses, providing some relief to Brandon as he begins to navigate life without his partner.
Friend Sarah Porter shared how the money raised would assist Brandon as he faces the challenges of raising Ruby without Kali. She described Kali as someone who embraced spontaneity and adventure, always ready to explore the world and take in new experiences.
“Kali was incredibly smart, and someone you could turn to for advice,” said Ms. Porter. “She worked incredibly hard and never shied away from a challenge.”
A Life Full of Joy
Ms. Porter also highlighted Kali’s love for life and her ability to bring joy to those around her. “Though she worked hard, she also played hard and brought so much joy in the world with her dance moves, love for music and her cheeky personality.”
Her presence in the lives of those who knew her was undeniable. “She was one of the firsts to say yes to spontaneity, embracing the world with open arms and travelling across the globe to take everything in,” said Ms. Porter.
A World Made Less Bright
The loss of Kali has left a deep void in the hearts of everyone who loved her. “Her loss has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of all who loved her,” said Ms. Porter. “Brandon and Ruby should have so many more years with Kali, and now face an incredibly heart-breaking new reality without her here.”
