Mitch Marsh Shines in IPL 2026 with Unstoppable Century
Aussie all-rounder Mitch Marsh has made a significant impact on the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament, delivering an extraordinary performance that helped the Lucknow Super Giants secure a massive victory. In a thrilling match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Marsh scored a stunning 111 off just 56 balls, showcasing his dominance at the crease despite the challenges posed by rain interruptions.
The game was played at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, where Marsh captivated the home crowd with his explosive batting. Despite being dismissed three times due to rain delays, he remained unstoppable, hitting nine sixes and nine fours during his innings. His performance not only set the tone for the team but also proved to be a turning point in their campaign.
Cooper Connolly had previously become the first Australian to score a century in this year’s competition, but Marsh quickly followed in his footsteps, achieving the feat in style. His innings was a masterclass in shot-making and composure under pressure.
Marsh’s efforts were instrumental in helping the Lucknow Super Giants reach a formidable total of 3-209 in 19 overs after the rain shortened the innings. Rishabh Pant, the Indian superstar, played a crucial role in boosting the total with a valiant 32 off 10 balls in the final over, demonstrating some spectacular shot-making skills.
Pant expressed his admiration for Marsh’s performance, stating, “Unbelievable … amazing batting from Mitch.” The praise highlighted the significance of Marsh’s contribution to the team’s success.
One of the highlights of the match was Marsh’s aggressive approach against fellow Australian teammate Josh Hazlewood. The bowler was punished for 49 runs off his four overs, but he eventually managed to dismiss Marsh after returning to bowl. The all-rounder hit the ball to deep point, ending his innings on 111.
Marsh reached his second IPL century off just 49 balls, further emphasizing his form and confidence. He even took Hazlewood for 27 runs, leaving fans in awe of his performance. This display marked a positive shift for the Australian players in the IPL, as they began to find their rhythm in the tournament.
A Boost for Team Morale
Speaking after the game, Marsh acknowledged the importance of his century for the Lucknow Super Giants, who had struggled in the 2026 season. The 34-year-old admitted it was a relief to provide his team with something to cheer about, especially given the challenges they had faced.
“It has been a tough season, so it’s nice to get on the right side of one. It’s been a disappointing season until today,” Marsh said. “But this is really good for morale and there’s still a lot for us to play for.”
Despite the win, the match was not without its challenges. Fellow Australian Tim David put up a strong fight for the Royal Challengers, smashing three sixes and four fours to give his team a chance. However, the Challengers fell short by nine runs in the final over due to the DLS method, which ultimately cost them the match.

The result left the Royal Challengers in third place, while the Lucknow Super Giants remained in last position. However, Marsh’s performance provided a much-needed boost for the team and signaled a potential turnaround in their fortunes for the rest of the tournament.
