New Hosts for Strictly Come Dancing Revealed
Strictly Come Dancing, one of the UK’s most beloved television shows, has announced its new presenting trio, marking a fresh chapter for the long-running series. Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe have been chosen to take over from the outgoing hosts, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. The decision was made following a rigorous audition process, with the BBC emphasizing the importance of chemistry between the new presenters.
Shirley Ballas, the show’s head judge, shared her thoughts on the new line-up in an exclusive interview. She praised the chemistry between Emma and Josh, stating that it was “off the charts.” Shirley also highlighted the unique qualities of each presenter, noting that Emma is “an absolute star” and that Johannes is “the only one in the whole world.”

Josh Widdicombe, who has previously appeared on the show as a contestant, will be the first male host since Bruce Forsyth. This marks a significant shift in the show’s history and raises expectations for his performance. Shirley believes the new trio will bring a fresh and exciting dynamic to the program. She said, “I think it’s going to be fresh and interesting. Apparently the chemistry between Josh and Emma was off the charts. So I believe that was the case.”
The announcement was confirmed on Strictly’s official Instagram page, where the trio was seen together in a photoshoot. The caption read: “It’s official… September 2026.” In the video, Emma and Johannes kissed each other on the cheek before Josh joined them, showcasing their camaraderie.
Emma expressed her excitement about joining the show, stating that it was something she “can’t quite comprehend.” She acknowledged the challenge of stepping into the shoes of Tess and Claudia, two iconic figures in the show’s history. Emma said, “I can only hope that we are able to help to steer the ship as beautifully as they have, into this new chapter.”

Josh, who is a huge fan of Strictly, described his feelings as “giddy with excitement.” He recalled his memorable performance as a penguin during the 2024 Christmas Special, which he considers a career highlight. Josh added, “I’m giddy with excitement, honoured and a little overawed to be given the chance to step into the biggest shoes in television.”
Johannes Radebe, one of the show’s most popular professional dancers, shared his surprise at being chosen as a presenter. He said, “Being given the opportunity to host was beyond anything I ever imagined.” Johannes emphasized the values of joy, heart, and togetherness that the show represents and expressed his gratitude for the chance to carry forward its legacy.
Emma was the first of the trio to be signed by BBC bosses after a shortlist of presenters underwent chemistry reads and screen tests. Josh emerged as the shock favorite after impressing the producers, while Johannes, who has been part of the show since 2018, will now take on presenting duties for the first time.
Johannes will not have a celebrity partner this year but will participate in group dances. He has become a fan favorite due to his flamboyant routines and outgoing personality. Currently starring in Kinky Boots on the West End stage, Johannes has also appeared in an episode of Doctor Who and competed on Celebrity MasterChef.
Several high-profile names were considered for the roles, including Zoe Ball, Rylan Clark, and Angela Scanlon. Zoe, who has been a staple on the BBC for over 30 years, expressed her disappointment at not landing the role. She shared her experience of going through the “seven stages of grief and rejection” on an episode of the Dig It podcast.
The new presenting team is set to bring a fresh energy to Strictly Come Dancing, and fans are eager to see how the show will evolve under their guidance. With a mix of talent, charm, and experience, Emma, Josh, and Johannes are well-positioned to continue the show’s legacy of entertainment and excellence.
