Former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan has once again captured the hearts of social media users, this time for his simple and friendly nature during a train ride from Mumbai to Vadodara. His actions on the journey have been widely appreciated, showcasing his approachable personality.
During the trip, Yusuf met a family traveling on the same train. He happily posed for pictures with them and engaged in conversations with each member of the family, making their journey truly memorable. The moment was shared by Yusuf on his Instagram story, and the family expressed their gratitude for his kindness and simplicity.
One particular photo that stood out online was when Yusuf posed individually with the child of the family. People praised him for remaining humble and approachable despite his achievements as a cricketer and in public life. The feel-good moment quickly went viral across social media platforms, further solidifying his status as someone people love.
A Remarkable Cricket Career
Yusuf Pathan’s journey from Baroda to fame as an explosive batsman and a useful off-spin bowler caught the nation’s attention after a spectacular performance in the Deodhar Trophy in 2007. This led to his inclusion in India’s squad for the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 that year.
He made his international debut in the final against Pakistan and even opened the batting in that match, which India won under MS Dhoni’s leadership. His explosive style of batting soon made him a valuable member of India’s ODI side and one of the biggest match-winners in the Indian Premier League.
In 57 ODIs, he scored 810 runs, while in 22 T20 Internationals, he contributed 236 runs for the nation. His domestic cricket career was equally impressive, with over 4,000 runs in all formats.
As a former KKR all-rounder, Yusuf scored 3,204 runs in 174 IPL games and took over 300 wickets in all formats combined.
Active Role Beyond Cricket
Beyond his cricketing achievements, Yusuf has also made a mark in public life. He is currently a Member of Parliament from the Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal, representing the All India Trinamool Congress.
Yusuf is also well-known as the elder brother of former India pace all-rounder Irfan Pathan. The brothers launched their academy, the Pathans Cricket Academy, post-retirement to nurture budding cricketers. The academy later partnered with former India coach Greg Chappell, Cameron Tradell as chief mentors, and Huzaifa Pathan joining as a coach.
Even after retiring from professional cricket, Yusuf has maintained a strong connection with his fans. This latest heartwarming incident on the train journey highlights that he remains a favorite among fans for reasons that go beyond his cricketing achievements.
