USMNT World Cup squad revealed: Reyna, Berhalter in, Luna out

The U.S. National Team’s World Cup Roster: What We Know So Far

With the announcement of World Cup rosters taking place across the globe, one team that has yet to reveal its full squad is the United States, a host nation for the 2026 tournament. This year marks a significant moment for the USMNT as manager Mauricio Pochettino leads the team for the first time in the prestigious competition. The pressure is high, not only because the U.S. will be hosting matches but also because many of the players have experienced the World Cup stage without achieving major success.

Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie, both 27 years old, may be on their last chance to perform at their peak. Pochettino must carefully balance their needs while selecting a squad capable of competing against some of the world’s top teams. Here’s what we know about the latest developments regarding the U.S. national team’s roster for the upcoming tournament.

Players Who Have Been Named

After months of speculation about whether or not his name would make it onto Pochettino’s final roster, Gio Reyna is reportedly set to join the U.S. squad. As a substitute for Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, Reyna has scored one goal in 19 matches this season.

The son of former USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter, Seb Berhalter, has also been reported to be part of the final squad. Berhalter has contributed six goals and four assists in 13 matches with the Vancouver Whitecaps this season, along with two assists during the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup for Team USA.

Brenden Aaronson, a winger for Leeds United, will also be suiting up for the USMNT in June. In 36 matches with the Premier League side, Aaronson has tallied four goals and five assists, along with a goal and assist during last summer’s Gold Cup.

Matt Turner, a former Arsenal reserve and starting goalkeeper for the USMNT, will also be present at the World Cup. Currently playing for the New England Revolution, Turner has stopped 57 shots this season, which is currently fifth in the MLS.

Finally, Mark McKenzie, a center back who plays for French side Toulouse, was the final player on the early report to make Pochettino’s summer squad. McKenzie has provided two assists in 29 matches this season.

Players Who Have Been Left Off the Squad

Despite being featured in upcoming World Cup advertisements, Diego Luna will reportedly not be on the pitch for the Stars and Stripes this summer. In nine games for the MLS’s Real Salt Lake this season, Luna has accumulated four goals and an assist. During the Concacaf Gold Cup last summer, the 22-year-old scored three goals and provided two assists.

One of Luna’s Real Salt Lake teammates, Zavier Gozo, also will reportedly not be present for the USMNT for the World Cup. Gozo turned 19 years old this past March, so the youngster still has time to make a U.S. roster at a future World Cup. In 2026 for RSL, Gozo has scored six goals and provided three assists through 13 matches.
