Jensen Ackles ignites Soldier Boy vs Captain America clash with new remark

The Debate Over Soldier Boy vs Captain America

The ongoing debate about who would win in a showdown between Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy from The Boys and Chris Evans’ Captain America from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has recently reignited. This time, it’s Jensen Ackles himself who is fueling the conversation.

As The Boys wraps up its highly successful finale, Ackles revealed his desire to face off against Evans. Given their long-standing careers in the entertainment industry, fans are already envisioning how this crossover could take place.

Jensen Ackles Reacts To Soldier Boy And Captain America’s Fan Edit

During the premiere of The Boys finale, Jensen Ackles was asked by The Wrap which superhero he believed Soldier Boy could take down. His answer was swift and confident: Captain America.

Ackles explained, “Somebody just sent me a clip of Soldier Boy vs Captain America. And I was very fascinated. It was like an AI clip.” The video showed Soldier Boy going up against MCU’s seasoned fighter, Captain America, and being bested. Ultimately, Ackles admitted, “I think Chris (Evans) ended up besting me in the clip, but that would be a fun showdown.”

This inspired Ackles to imagine an actual showdown: “I’d love to mix it up with Chris. He and I go way, way back. But as far as the characters go, that’d be interesting. I don’t know.”

The Legendary Connection Between Soldier Boy and Captain America

The characters definitely have a legendary connection that makes this comment so iconic. Soldier Boy is essentially a brutal parody of Marvel’s patriotic hero, Captain America. Both are super-soldiers who fought during World War II, and both became propaganda icons in their respective universes. Even their costume and shields are strikingly similar.

In The Boys Season 3, Soldier Boy returns to New York after spending decades imprisoned by the Soviets and becomes overwhelmed by the modern technology and culture. The scene reminded us all of Captain America: The First Avenger, where Steve Rogers woke up to be stunned by the futuristic New York City as well.

But that is where the similarities end. Unlike Captain America, who represents discipline, morality, and sacrifice, Soldier Boy is a violent hedonist who believes he is above the rules. This contrast is the reason why fans remain obsessed with the idea of a showdown. It would not be just a fight between two super-soldiers but a clash between two completely different ideas of what a “hero” should be.

Jensen Ackles and Chris Evans Go Way Back

The actors also share a hilarious but equally iconic history. For years, fans have speculated that Ackles had been a candidate for the role of Captain America before it went to Evans. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ackles clarified that he never officially auditioned for the role because of his schedule on Supernatural.

But still, he had a connection with Evans because both used to go for similar projects earlier in their career. “I would’ve loved to have been in the mix on that because Chris [Evans] and I used to go against each other for quite a bit on a lot of different things back in the day. But unfortunately, I didn’t get to fight him on that one,” Ackles revealed.

So, when Ackles joined The Boys as Soldier Boy, fans immediately revisited the Captain America comparison. During the season 3 premiere of the show, he was asked the same question by Yahoo Entertainment. Back then, he joked, “Chris and I should probably talk about doing some sort of face-off or crossover.” But he eventually conceded, “No, he’s got magic powers! And his shield can return to him; my shield is just a blunt object. He wins.”

He also jokingly gave up another battle: who has “America’s a –“. To this, Ackles said, “Evans is going to win that one, too. He doesn’t have three kids, so he gets to work out!”

But things seem to have changed since then. Ackles is now openly backing Soldier Boy in a fight against Captain America. All fans can do is imagine what would happen if these two icons ever collide on-screen or off-screen. If that ever happens, there is no doubt that it will break the internet.
