Eberechi Eze dismisses Tottenham talk amid Arsenal triumph

Eberechi Eze has been reflecting on a pivotal moment in his career, one that could have taken a very different turn had circumstances been slightly altered. The West African midfielder, now a key figure for Arsenal, couldn’t help but make a light-hearted comment about the possibility of him being at Tottenham instead of the Gunners.

This season has been a whirlwind for Eze, who was part of the team that finally clinched the Premier League title. After a dramatic final day where Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace 2-1, the celebrations at Selhurst Park marked a full-circle moment for Eze, who left Palace last summer to join Mikel Arteta’s squad.

However, there was a time when Eze was on the verge of joining Tottenham, only for a last-minute change of heart from their north London rivals. When asked by former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon whether he made the right decision by choosing Arsenal over a potential move to Spurs, Eze responded with a grin.

“I’m pretty sure I did [make the right decision],” he said, according to NBC Sports. “I’m pretty sure I did.”

Eze also shared his emotions about winning his first league title, describing it as an overwhelming experience. “Yeah, no words, no words to describe this feeling,” he said. “It’s been a long season, so many ups, downs, but we’ve reached the end of the marathon and having won, I can only thank God.”

The success of the season is not over yet, as Arsenal now shifts focus to the upcoming Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. Eze expressed optimism about the team’s chances, highlighting the growing confidence within the dressing room following their league triumph.

“It’s faith, it’s faith and belief,” he added. “I think that’s what it is, it’s showing itself in so many different places.”

He continued: “And I just feel like everyone’s got this feeling that we can do it, that we can achieve things, that the journey is being paved for us. And as long as we’re doing everything we can, God’s going to take care of the rest. And I feel like that feeling is all over the place, really.”

Eze’s leadership has also been acknowledged by his teammates, including Declan Rice, who praised his calming presence in the dressing room.

“He’s such a calm guy, you see how he is on the pitch that’s how he is off the pitch,” Rice said. “He just calmed everyone and it was really nice.”

Rice also highlighted the collective effort that helped secure the league title. “That’s been another thing this season, there’s been a lot of people who have stepped up behind the scenes. Nobody would think they’re leaders but they’ve really been talking within the group and they’ve pushed people in quiet one-to-ones. It’s been a real group effort this season.”

As Arsenal prepares for the Champions League final, the entire team is riding high on the momentum of their historic Premier League victory. For fans and players alike, the season has been a testament to resilience, unity, and the power of belief.
