Dolly Parton’s New Travel Hub Shakes Up the Scene

A New Chapter for Roadside Travel

Dolly Parton is bringing a touch of her signature charm and warmth to the highway pit stop scene with the opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop. This new travel center in Cornersville, Tennessee, is set to open on June 24, offering a unique blend of convenience, comfort, and entertainment for travelers. Located off Interstate 65, about an hour south of Nashville, this venture is designed to make every highway stop feel like a home away from home.

The concept of the travel stop was announced last year and has since captured the attention of both locals and visitors. According to a news release, the project aims to create a travel experience that emphasizes the idea that every stop on the road should be more than just a quick refuel. The stop will cater to long-haul truckers and families alike, providing a variety of food options, retail services, and themed attractions.

A Unique Blend of Services

Guests can enjoy a range of offerings at Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop, including DLY BBQ, Dolly’s Cup of Ambition Coffee, which pays homage to her hit song “9 to 5,” and shelves filled with exclusive Dolly Parton merchandise. Unlike many traditional travel centers, this location will also feature a full-service sit-down restaurant and café, making it a destination rather than just a quick stop.

Fans will have the opportunity to take photos against an original mural commissioned as a permanent tribute to Cornersville. Additionally, a replica of Dolly’s well-known tour bus will be on display, adding to the nostalgic appeal of the site.

“I have spent the bulk of my life on the road, and more specifically on a bus. All the years spent visiting greasy spoon cafes, truck stops and roadside pit stops have given me an understanding of what travelers desire on the road,” Parton said in a news release.

Additional Features and Community Focus

The travel stop will offer standard fuel pumps as well as electric vehicle charging stations, catering to modern travelers. Other features include the Doggy Parton dog park, an upstairs event space, and a stage designed for live music performances. These amenities are intended to create a welcoming environment where travelers can rest, refuel, and enjoy the road in a more pleasant way.

“Blending regional roots and high-quality service with her signature warmth and Tennessee spirit, the travel stop offers a welcoming place to rest, refuel and make the road a little kinder,” the news release reads.

The initial Cornersville location is expected to become the flagship for what could eventually expand into multiple Parton-themed travel stops across the country. This move marks Dolly Parton’s entry into the roadside travel scene, which is currently dominated by chains like Buc-ee’s.

Competition on the Road

Buc-ee’s, known for its massive stores with clean restrooms and cult-favorite snacks like Beaver Nuggets, has been expanding rapidly across Tennessee and the South. With locations already in Crossville and Sevierville, more are planned for Murfreesboro and Gallaway by 2027. This expansion highlights the growing demand for unique and convenient roadside experiences.

As Dolly Parton’s travel stop opens, it brings a fresh perspective to the industry, blending her iconic personality with a focus on community and hospitality. For travelers looking for more than just a quick stop, Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop promises to offer a memorable and welcoming experience.
