Evra pushes Man Utd to snap up Osimhen after Ederson move

Manchester United’s Transfer Strategy and Evra’s Dream Signing

Patrice Evra has shared his thoughts on the potential signings for Manchester United, highlighting the club’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their squad. As Michael Carrick prepares to make his first major move as manager, the focus is on bolstering the midfield and addressing key areas of need.

Ederson’s Arrival and Midfield Reinforcements

Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Atalanta’s Brazilian midfielder Ederson, with a deal reportedly worth £38 million. This would mark Carrick’s first signing since taking over as permanent manager following the club’s return to the Champions League. The initial fee is set at £35 million, with additional incentives bringing the total to £38 million.

Ederson will become the third Atalanta player to join United in recent years, following Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo. His arrival comes as the club looks to rebuild its midfield after Casemiro’s departure and uncertainty surrounding Manuel Ugarte’s future. United are also considering further additions, with interest in players like Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Carlos Baleba.

Evra’s Ideal Summer Signing

Despite the focus on midfield, Evra has expressed his desire for United to target a top striker this summer. When asked about his dream signing, he named Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian forward currently at Galatasaray.

Evra praised Osimhen’s qualities, stating that he believes the striker could make a significant impact at Old Trafford. “Manchester United need a proper striker,” he said. “If you want to play every competition, you need more strikers.”

Osimhen has been a consistent goal-scorer, netting 22 goals for Galatasaray last season to help them win the league. He has scored 59 goals in 74 games since joining from Napoli for £65 million. Despite his success in Turkey, there have been rumors linking him to clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

Louis Saha, a former United striker, recently urged the club to revive their interest in Osimhen. He described the Nigerian forward as a “transformational signing” and highlighted his experience in France, Italy, and Turkey.

“He’s got the character, he’s got the quality,” Saha said. “He’s scored goals at every level and has Champions League experience. I think he would be a transformational signing for Manchester United.”

Carrick’s Vision for the Transfer Window

Carrick has acknowledged the importance of the upcoming transfer window, calling it one of the most crucial in the club’s history. “It’s always the biggest thing in the world, and the most important transfer window of all time for every club I think,” he said.

He emphasized the need to continue moving forward, especially after finishing the season in a strong position. “There’s obviously work to do,” Carrick added. “There are certain players leaving, and we need to replace them.”

Other Recent Signings

United’s spending on strikers has not gone unnoticed. Last summer, they spent £74 million on Slovenia striker Benjamin Sesko. Although he struggled under former manager Ruben Amorim, Sesko ended the season strongly, scoring 11 Premier League goals.

As the club continues to evaluate its needs, the focus remains on strengthening both the midfield and attack. With several potential targets on the radar, the summer transfer window promises to be an exciting period for fans.
