John Farnham, now 76, has made the difficult decision not to perform on stage again. He told the Herald Sun that it is “just not possible” for him to sing following the surgeries he underwent due to cancer-related complications. Despite this, Farnham remains deeply involved in the event, expressing his gratitude for the support he has received from fans and fellow musicians alike.
The lineup for the concert includes an impressive array of performers, such as Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, Human Nature, Jessica Mauboy, Kate Ceberano, Ross Wilson, and Richard Marx. International stars Celine Dion and Hugh Jackman will also participate, performing from overseas via satellite.
A Journey Through Health Challenges
Farnham was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2022 and faced further health challenges when he was hospitalized with a respiratory infection in March 2023. However, in August 2023, he confirmed that he is now cancer-free, marking a significant milestone in his recovery.
His last public performance was at Sydney’s Fire Fight fundraising concert in February 2020. Since then, Farnham has taken a step back from the spotlight, focusing on his health and well-being.

The funds raised at the concert will be donated to Head and Neck Cancer Australia, an organization that played a vital role in Farnham’s treatment. In a statement, Farnham expressed his hope that the event will help others facing similar challenges.

It says far more about the spirit behind this event than it does about me.”
