A New Chapter in Young Adult Romance
Ella Bright, the rising star of Amazon Prime Video’s latest young adult romance series Off Campus, has taken to social media to address concerns about the age gap between her and co-star Belmont Cameli. The British-American actress, who is 19 years old, plays Hannah Wells, a college music major who starts a fake relationship with Garrett Graham, a star hockey player portrayed by 28-year-old Belmont Cameli. This storyline aims to make her crush jealous, but it also sparked some fan discussions about the nine-year difference between the two actors.
Bright, who was 18 when filming began, is the youngest member of the main cast. In an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she acknowledged the concerns raised by fans but emphasized that she never felt out of place due to her age. “We’re all such a family, and everyone was just more than perfect,” she said. “I couldn’t be more comfortable on this set with these people.”
She also highlighted her confidence in the role, stating that she came into the job with enough knowledge and understanding of what the show required. Her performance has been praised for its authenticity and emotional depth, contributing to the show’s success.

A Success Story on Prime Video
Off Campus, adapted from Elle Kennedy’s five-book romance series, has quickly become a standout in the streaming world. It has followed in the footsteps of other successful shows like HBO’s Heated Rivalry, gaining attention and admiration from viewers.
The series premiered earlier this month and has already surpassed other Prime Video hits, including The Boys and The Summer I Turned Pretty, becoming the streamer’s third-most-watched debut series ever. Within just 12 days of its release, the show reached 36 million viewers, according to Amazon data.
Peter Friedlander, head of global TV at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed his excitement about the show’s reception: “Obsession is officially in session at Prime Video, thanks to the fans who have embraced Off Campus. We couldn’t be happier to see such a passionate community come together around Season 1 of creator Louisa Levy and co-showrunner Gina Fattore’s interpretation of Elle Kennedy’s beloved story.”
Renewal and New Directions
The success of Off Campus has led to an early renewal, with season two expected to follow another romance storyline from Kennedy’s books. However, there are some changes ahead. Josh Heuston, who plays Hannah’s crush Justin Kohl, will not be returning for the next season.
Showrunner Louisa Levy shared the news with TV Guide earlier this month, saying, “But I love Josh and I would not write him off if I can find a way to bring Justin back at some point.” This statement leaves the door open for potential future appearances, keeping fans hopeful for a return of the character.
