Race-by-race insights for Scone on Sunday

Race 1

  1. Flirtation

This Snitzel filly made her debut at this track just over two weeks ago and ran well, finishing second. She had a trial before that and should have gained from it. This race could be the one where she finally breaks through.

  2. Little Miss Sass

A filly making her first start after two trials. She wasn’t far off in her latest trial and is worth watching closely.

  3. Supido Star

A last start Quirindi placegetter, she can be thereabouts again with a repeat of her previous performance.

  4. Bees Knees

On debut, she finished third in a Muswellbrook trial. Her form suggests she has potential.

How to play it:

Flirtation WIN.

Race 2

  1. Terrawatt

Making his debut in this race, Terrawatt has had a solid grounding with barrier trials. He ran fifth in the latest of them on the Beaumont track at Newcastle and looks set to perform well here with Aaron Bullock in the saddle.

  2. The Breakers

He had his first start when finishing second at Newcastle. Another forward showing is expected.

  3. Kursaal

She has had two trials leading into her first start and won her latest at Warwick Farm. Expect her to run well.

  4. Sambuca Sky

Ran third on debut at this track in January and has won two trials leading into this resuming run.

How to play it:

Terrawatt EACH WAY.

Race 3

  1. Moana Gold

She was placed in three straight starts before finishing sixth and fourth at her latest two starts at Wyong. If she runs up to that level, she will be hard to beat.

  2. Orange Tsunami

Resuming after two trials, he showed enough in three starts in his initial campaign to be a contender.

  3. Seditio

Making his debut after two trials, he is worth including among the main chances.

  4. Twice Az Cool

Was placed in two in a row before not being beaten far when seventh at this track last time out.

How to play it:

Moana Gold WIN.

Race 4

  1. Aussie Nation

He has been racing well with four second placings either side of a Gosford victory three starts ago. With a good draw and Aaron Bullock in the saddle, he can win again.

  2. Prince Is Game

Won with ease at Taree when last produced and can figure prominently with a repeat of that performance.

  3. Spacetime Legend

Hit the line well for a last start Newcastle win and should figure again.

  4. Scottish Pearl

Ran well when a last start fourth at Hawkesbury and has place claims.

How to play it:

Aussie Nation WIN.

Race 5

  1. Hulu

A Tamworth winner three starts ago, he comes into this on the back of a last start third behind Shotgun Bella at this track. That form looks strong.

  2. Hellcibell

Hasn’t been far away despite being unplaced in three runs after a spell and is worth plenty of thought.

  3. King Larry

Has been placed in his latest two starts and can be thereabouts again.

  4. Eighty Eight Stars

Ran well enough at Gunnedah last time out to be rated a place chance in this.

How to play it:

Hulu WIN.

Race 6

  1. Athena’s Treasure

She has been racing well with a couple of second placings at Newcastle and Muswellbrook before being close-up when sixth in the Northern Wild Card for the Country Championships at this track in March. Fresh for this, she should be charging home late.

  2. It Stays In Vegas

Was a Gunnedah winner before being spelled and resumes in this after finishing third in a recent Muswellbrook trial.

  3. Capsity

First-up after two trials, she has shown plenty of ability in a six start career with two wins and as many placings.

  4. Crook

Has a good record with four wins from eight starts and resumes from a spell here having won at Orange and Bathurst at the back end of last year. She is worth including among the chances.

How to play it:

Athena’s Treasure WIN.

Race 7

  1. Parfumier

Pushed forward at Taree when last produced and fought on well to hold on to score a dead heat victory. That was an improvement on her previous form, but she has always shown her share of ability, and this looks well within her reach as well.

  2. Whateley

Hasn’t been too far away of late, with a couple of eighths in Highway grade and a last start fourth at Newcastle. He ran second at Mudgee four starts ago and he can get into the money here on his best form.

  3. Pontevedra

Resumed from a spell when down the track here a couple of weeks ago but can be expected to improve sharply. He won two in a row at Muswellbrook in October and November of last year and is a leading contender here on the strength of that form.

  4. Smart Buy

Beat Pontevedra home when they last clashed at this track and she can run a bold race against these.

How to play it:

Parfumier EACH WAY.
