The Future of Yashasvi Jaiswal at Rajasthan Royals
The conversation surrounding Yashasvi Jaiswal’s future with the Rajasthan Royals has become a significant topic of discussion in the cricketing world. This comes after former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu suggested that the opener might consider moving away from the franchise.
This development has occurred during a season where young prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has dominated the headlines. The 15-year-old batting sensation has been the standout name of IPL 2026, capturing the attention of fans and experts alike.
Jaiswal entered the season as one of Rajasthan Royals’ most prominent players. After several successful seasons in the IPL and his performances for the Indian national team, he was expected to be the franchise’s poster boy, especially following Sanju Samson’s move to Chennai Super Kings.
However, the remarkable achievements of Sooryavanshi have completely shifted the narrative around the Royals this season.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: A New Cricket Sensation
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of the most talked-about names in world cricket during IPL 2026. His consistent run-scoring throughout the tournament has been nothing short of impressive, and he has set numerous records along the way.
Recently, he scored 97 runs off just 29 deliveries in the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad, leading Rajasthan Royals into Qualifier 2. He also broke Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in a single IPL season and became the youngest batter to score over 600 runs in an IPL season.
While Jaiswal has continued to contribute significantly with the bat, the explosive performances of Sooryavanshi have captured the majority of the attention from cricket fans and experts.
Ambati Rayudu’s Advice to Jaiswal
Ambati Rayudu, a former India batter, has offered strong advice to Jaiswal, suggesting that he may need a fresh environment to re-establish himself as a key player for a franchise.
During an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Rayudu indicated that if Jaiswal remains with the Rajasthan Royals alongside Sooryavanshi, he risks being overshadowed by the younger player.
Rayudu stated:
“He needs to change his game because he cannot just bat with the guy and be overshadowed every single time. He is a star in his own right. If he goes to another team, he will win games on his own. He needs space and a platform because this guy will continue to overshadow people.”
These comments have sparked considerable transfer speculation among fans, with Mumbai Indians being mentioned as a potential destination for Jaiswal ahead of next year’s Indian Premier League.
For now, Jaiswal’s focus remains on the Royals’ quest for a playoff title and preparing for Qualifier 2 against the Gujarat Titans.
