Peak Blinders spin-off stars confirmed

New Cast Members for Peaky Blinders Spin-Off Series

Jamie Bell and Charlie Heaton have been confirmed as key cast members for a new spin-off series of Peaky Blinders. This upcoming project will continue the story of the critically acclaimed television series, which concluded in 2022 and featured Cillian Murphy as the infamous gangster Tommy Shelby. The new series is set to explore the next chapter in the lives of the Shelby family.

Bell will take on the role of Duke “Erasmus” Shelby, the eldest son of Tommy Shelby and the new leader of the violent crime gang. The narrative will pick up a decade after the events of the recently released film, The Immortal Man, which served as a prequel to the original series. Set in 1950s Birmingham, the show will delve into the city’s post-Second World War landscape, focusing on an “older, wiser, more ambitious and more dangerous” Duke.

Charlie Heaton, known for his role in Stranger Things, will also join the cast, alongside Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abbey and Lashana Lynch, who starred in The Day Of The Jackal. Lucy Karczewski, an actress making her television debut, has also been added to the cast.

Creator’s Excitement About the New Series

Steven Knight, the creator and writer of Peaky Blinders, expressed his excitement about the new era of the franchise. He stated, “I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s. We are incredibly fortunate to have Jamie Bell taking the role of Tommy Shelby’s oldest son, Duke, and to have Charlie Heaton also leading the cast. There are more exciting cast announcements to come, and Peaky is on the road again.”

This announcement follows the release of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, a spin-off film that saw Cillian Murphy reprise his role as the ruthless gangster Shelby. The original TV series, which followed the Birmingham-based crime family the Shelbys, first premiered on the BBC in 2013 and has since grown into a globally successful franchise.

Production Details and Availability

The new series has been commissioned for two seasons, each consisting of six episodes that will be 60 minutes long. It will be available for viewing on BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and Netflix. More details about the production are expected to be announced in the coming months.
