RBC Heritage 2026: Matt Fitzpatrick’s Winning Payout Revealed

Matt Fitzpatrick added another victory to his impressive resume on Sunday, securing his second win at the RBC Heritage in four years. The English golfer claimed the title at Harbor Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina, after a thrilling playoff against the world’s top-ranked player, Scottie Scheffler.

The final round was nothing short of dramatic. After Scheffler mounted a late comeback to force the playoff, Fitzpatrick delivered a crucial 4-iron shot that landed just 13 feet from the hole, setting up a birdie that ultimately decided the match.

“I mean the world. This is a tournament I wanted to win growing up more than any of the majors before I understood more about the game,” Fitzpatrick said following the victory. “To go toe-to-toe with Scottie and get it over the line is special.”

Fitzpatrick and Scheffler both recently competed at The Masters 2026. Fitzpatrick finished tied for 18th, while Scheffler came in second behind the winner, Rory McIlroy.

Despite a strong start on Sunday, Fitzpatrick bogeyed the 18th hole during regulation play. Scheffler entered the final tee box just one shot behind, which allowed him to force the playoff. However, Fitzpatrick remained composed, carding a 1-under 70 in the final round and then making a key birdie on the first playoff hole.

This victory marks Fitzpatrick’s second win of the season, following his triumph at the Valspar Championship in March. The win also earned him a substantial payout, as he took home the largest share of the $20 million purse at the RBC Heritage 2026.

According to Golf Digest, Fitzpatrick earned $3.6 million for his performance, while Scheffler finished second with $2.16 million. Si Woo Kim took third place, earning $1.36 million. Three players tied for fourth—Collin Morikawa, Harris English, and Ludvig Aberg—each received $823,333.31. Bud Cauley, who placed seventh, walked away with $665,000.

With this win, Fitzpatrick has now surpassed $35 million in career earnings, a remarkable achievement for the English golfer. His previous victory at the RBC Heritage came in 2023, when he defeated Jordan Spieth in a playoff. That win marked his first PGA Tour victory.

With two wins already this season, Fitzpatrick is showing signs of momentum that could lead to more success. His upcoming schedule includes several high-profile events: the Cadillac Championship on April 30, the Truist Championship starting May 7, the Memorial Tournament beginning June 4, and the U.S. Open starting June 18.
