Lansing Community College Hosts Family Workday Event

Take Your Child to Work Day at Lansing Community College

LANSING, Mich. – On Thursday, Lansing Community College joined numerous other organizations in celebrating Take Your Child to Work Day. The event provided a unique opportunity for school-aged children to experience what it’s like to be part of a professional environment. With a full schedule of interactive and educational activities, the day was filled with excitement and learning.

Parents had the chance to show their children how their daily work routine operates. From participating in mock meetings to engaging in creative arts and crafts, the event offered a hands-on approach to understanding different careers. This kind of exposure can be incredibly valuable for young minds, helping them develop an early interest in various fields.

Crystal Perry, an administrator at Lansing Community College, highlighted the importance of such events. She emphasized that the college provides a special platform for inspiring children to explore potential career paths. “I think there’s more of an opportunity for us here at LCC because not only do they see what their parents are doing but they see what they can do next, what types of professions they can have because we’re a college base,” she said.

A New Addition to the Campus

One of the highlights of the day was the introduction of LCC’s new mascot, Astronaut Lance. The energetic character brought a sense of fun and excitement to the event, especially for the younger attendees. Astronaut Lance is set to make appearances at various athletic events, adding a stellar touch to the college’s spirit and community engagement.

The presence of Astronaut Lance not only entertained the kids but also helped to create a more dynamic and engaging atmosphere on campus. It’s a great way to connect with students and families, making the college feel more accessible and welcoming.
