Harry Maguire Hails £70m Man Utd Star as ‘Best I’ve Seen’

A Powerful Partnership on the Pitch

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has expressed his admiration for his teammate Casemiro following the team’s victory against Brentford at Old Trafford. The match, which took place on Monday evening, saw Michael Carrick’s side secure a 2-1 win in the Premier League. This result highlights the growing synergy between key players and their impact on the team’s performance.

Casemiro’s Key Contribution

Casemiro played a crucial role in the match by scoring the opening goal just 11 minutes into the game. Maguire provided the assist, heading the ball towards the Brentford goal. Casemiro then nodded it home from an acute angle. This goal marked the 34-year-old former Real Madrid star’s ninth Premier League goal of the season for Manchester United.

In addition to his goal-scoring ability, Casemiro has also contributed two assists in 32 league appearances this season. His presence on the field has been vital for the team, especially considering the £70 million transfer fee he cost when he joined Man Utd in the summer of 2022.

Maguire’s Praise for Casemiro

Maguire shared his thoughts on Casemiro during an interview with Sky Sports, highlighting how the Brazilian midfielder has elevated his own performance. He said, “I thought I was good at heading and attacking the ball in the box, until I met Casemiro. His time in this league, his aggression, his technique, it’s the best I’ve seen and worked with. He’s really clinical, and he has been a massive boost for us this season, because without his goals, we wouldn’t be nowhere near where we are on the table.”

Strategic Advantage in Set Pieces

Maguire further explained how having both himself and Casemiro in the opposition box during set pieces gives Manchester United a strategic advantage. He noted, “I’ve played in a lot of teams where I get one, two players marking me, and all the focus is on myself. I think now all the teams are respecting that Casemiro is a massive threat as well. So, they have to take a lot of eyes on him. They have to put a good defender on him, rather than putting two on myself at the moment. It frees us both up.”

He continued, “Our record when we both play together, when I play, I think Casemiro gets more goals and when he plays, I get more opportunities as well. It’s good that we have two big targets, two good threats in the attacking box. And I think it makes a lot harder for the opposition.”

Manager’s Appreciation

Man Utd interim manager Carrick also praised Casemiro, who will leave the Premier League club at the end of the season. Carrick told Match of the Day, “He’s scored some big goals for us. Bruno, Harry and Casemiro have a good relationship. We wanted to come out and start quick and look dangerous and creative and we did that.”

Looking Ahead

As the season progresses, the contributions of players like Casemiro and Maguire will continue to shape Manchester United’s performance. Their partnership not only enhances the team’s attacking options but also provides a psychological edge against opponents. With the right strategy and teamwork, the Red Devils aim to maintain their momentum and achieve their goals for the remainder of the season.
