Dexter Sol Ansell Returns as Egg in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2
Dexter Sol Ansell is set to reprise his role as Egg in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2. The 11-year-old actor, who was just nine when he first played the squire alongside Ser Duncan in the hit HBO series, has made a bold decision for the new season—shaving his head once again. This commitment to the role reflects his dedication and passion for the character.
When he first joined the cast, Dexter did not need to shave his head during auditions. However, his enthusiasm for the role led him to make the choice voluntarily. His decision paid off, and he was eventually cast as Egg. Now, with Season 2 on the horizon, he is returning with the same level of excitement and determination.
A Transformation That Captivated Fans
Dexter recently shared a video on Instagram showing his preparation for the haircut, including a visit to the barber shop and a greeting to fans after the head shave. The clip also featured glimpses of him at the barber, where he appeared calm throughout the process. His experience of shaving his head for the first time for the series was recorded and later shared with fans.
During his first time shaving his head, Dexter admitted he briefly questioned his decision. In an interview with Filmfare, he mentioned feeling strange when the middle portion of his hair was being shaved off. “One minute, I’m about to die in The Hunger Games. The next minute, I am shaving all my hair off! It was mental,” he said.
Later, he explained how important it was for his character, Egg, to shave his head. His character had unique hair, and in order to remain hidden in Westeros and avoid being recognized by the castle, he needed to shave it off. Now, much like the character he portrays, the actor has made several bold and brave decisions throughout the series, which have been praised by the cast and crew.
Production Hiccups and New Challenges
While Dexter Sol Ansell is ready to begin the action for Season 2, the show faced an unexpected challenge during production. Floods caused by extreme rainfall halted the filming of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2. The production had originally planned to shoot several scenes at the Las Niñas Dam in Gran Canaria. However, rising water levels due to heavy winter rains submerged much of the film set near the reservoir.
This forced the production company to relocate filming to mainland Spain. Although this disruption has been significant, there is currently no news of a delay in the Season 2 release. If no other major issues arise, the series is expected to arrive in 2027.
Fan Reactions and Continued Excitement
Fans have been following Dexter Sol Ansell’s journey closely, especially his decision to shave his head for the role of Egg. Many have expressed admiration for his commitment to the character. His transformation has sparked discussions among fans, with many curious about how his appearance will impact the story.
As the production moves forward, anticipation for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 continues to grow. With Dexter’s return and the challenges overcome, the series is poised for another exciting chapter.
