Real Madrid Split: Ex-Arsenal Star Warns Arbeloa Against Contact in Unresolvable Row

Dani Ceballos and Real Madrid’s Internal Struggles

A recent incident involving Dani Ceballos has sparked significant attention within the Real Madrid camp. The midfielder reportedly had a heated confrontation with manager Alvaro Arbeloa at the club’s training ground, leading to a dramatic decision by Ceballos to cut off all communication with his coach.

According to reports, Ceballos sought a meeting with Arbeloa last week after not playing since returning from injury in April. The discussion turned tense, resulting in an ‘unpleasant face-to-face meeting’. This conflict was not new, as there had been previous disagreements between the two.

Following the meeting, Ceballos informed his teammates that he did not want Arbeloa to contact him again. This move led to Ceballos being omitted from the matchday squad for Real Madrid’s game against Real Betis, which ended in a 1-1 draw. This result allowed Barcelona to close the gap in the title race.

Ceballos is expected to continue training with his team-mates until the end of the season but will not be included in the final five league matches. Real Madrid believe that Ceballos may have intentionally created this conflict to justify his lack of playing time and to seek a move at the end of the season.

Ceballos has one year left on his contract with Real Madrid. He previously turned down a move to Marseille and is now being linked with a return to Real Betis, where he began his professional career before moving to Real Madrid in 2017.

This internal conflict comes at a time when there are growing expectations that Arbeloa may be replaced as manager at the end of the season. Since taking over from Xabi Alonso in January, Arbeloa has overseen 23 matches, with 14 wins, two draws, and seven losses. The team has struggled in the league and was eliminated from the Champions League by Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid are set to finish the season without any major trophies for the second consecutive year. Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is the preferred choice of president Florentino Perez to replace Arbeloa. Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, winning one LaLiga title, a Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

The 63-year-old is currently managing Benfica, where he has returned after 25 years. Benfica has remained unbeaten in the league since his return, although they are seven points behind leaders Porto.

There are reports that Real Madrid would need to pay £2.6 million to activate a release clause in Mourinho’s contract, which runs until 2027. Despite this, there has been no official contact from Real Madrid yet, though Mourinho is said to be interested in a return.

However, the club is cautious about the potential backlash from fans, especially considering the fallout from their Champions League clash with Benfica in February.
