Sorry, but we must talk about fashion’s next ‘it’ shoe

Embracing the Hairy Shoe Trend

When it comes to covering the latest fashion trends, there’s a good chance you’ve seen just about everything. From unbuttoned jeans to pillowcase handbags, it’s hard to be surprised. However, some days you wake up and find that everyone has suddenly started wearing fluff as shoes.

Fluffy, furry, fuzzy, and hairy—there’s no other way to describe this latest trend. It’s one that even Big Foot would approve of. From Milan and Paris Fashion Week to your TikTok feed, women are adding texture to their feet in ways never imagined before.

At first, I was skeptical. I thought, there’s no way I’m going to work dressed like a little fluffy monster. But then I opened my mind and let the spirit of Miranda Priestly take over. I love a faux fur coat or fleece-lined slipper. Why not color outside the lines? Bring it round the outside? Flip it inside out?

When I saw that Tamara Holland, The contributing fashion editor, included the fur shoe trend in her recent stylish shoe round-up, I knew it was time to give it a try.

However, I do have questions. What happens if you step into a puddle? Does the fur start to mat or discolour? These shoes seem impractical, but I suppose all good fashion is.

So, should you go for hairy shoes or not? That’s the question. As I’ve been compiling examples for this article, I’ve seriously considered adding a few pairs to my cart. There are plenty of different styles to choose from: classic hairy heels, fluffy sandals, textured ballet flats, pony hair sneakers, and boots with fur.
