Cameron Diaz’s Fears as an ‘Older Mother’ Before Third Child

Cameron Diaz Embraces Motherhood and Aging Gracefully

Cameron Diaz, the Hollywood icon known for her iconic roles in films like There’s Something About Mary and Charlie’s Angels, has recently opened up about her journey as an older mother. At 53, she has embraced the challenges and joys of parenthood, especially after welcoming her third child, Nautas Madden, with her husband Benji Madden, a musician and member of the band Good Charlotte.

The couple shared the news of their son’s arrival on Instagram, expressing their happiness and gratitude for the blessing of their growing family. They are already parents to daughter Raddix, who is six years old, and son Cardinal, who is two. Both children were born via surrogate, a choice that reflects their commitment to building a family while balancing their careers and personal lives.

The Pressure of Being an Older Mother

In the days leading up to the announcement, Cameron admitted to feeling the pressure of being an older mother. She shared that she often finds herself surrounded by friends who are “literally 20 years younger” and acknowledged the unique position she is in. However, she also emphasized that this is not a burden but rather a source of motivation.

“I love being a mother. It’s the best, best, best part of my life. The only pressure for me now is I have to live to be, like, 107, you know?” she said in an interview with OK! Magazine. Her comments reflect a deep desire to be present for her children, especially as they grow and experience life.

A Focus on Longevity and Health

Cameron has always been open about her focus on longevity and health. In a previous conversation with her close friend Gwyneth Paltrow, she expressed her goal of living at least another 50 years. This mindset has influenced her approach to aging, which she believes has evolved significantly over the past decade.

“I think you have this amazing moment in your 40s where you appreciate who your parents are, and I want to have that moment with her—be there with her in her 40s,” she said, referring to her daughter Raddix.

Cameron also credited her family’s strong genetic background for her own potential to live a long life. She mentioned her grandmother, who was active and energetic well into her 70s, as an inspiration.

Embracing Natural Aging

Cameron has also spoken candidly about her decision to stop using Botox several years ago. She admitted that she once regretted how Botox changed her appearance and decided to embrace her natural aging process instead.

“I’d rather see my face aging than a face that doesn’t belong to me at all,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2014. Her choice to forgo cosmetic procedures has allowed her to maintain a more authentic presence in both her personal and professional life.

Returning to Acting

After taking a decade-long hiatus from acting, Cameron made a triumphant return in 2023 with her role in the film Back in Action. She has since appeared in other projects, including the Apple TV film Outcome, where she stars alongside Keanu Reeves. She is also currently filming a movie titled The Sham alongside Stephen Merchant and will reprise her role as Princess Fiona in a new Shrek movie set for release in 2027.

A Supportive Circle

Cameron has consistently expressed gratitude for the support she receives from her loved ones. She described her group of friends as a “village” that has helped her navigate the challenges of motherhood and career. She also thanked her husband, Benji, and her friend Gwyneth Paltrow for encouraging her to become a mother, even though she initially had doubts.

“[Gwyneth] said, ‘You’re going to have a child if it’s the last thing you do! Yes you are!’ I was not convinced I was going to!” she recalled, highlighting the strong bond between the two women.
